I just watched Chris Browns music video for "Gimme that", and In the video he does a 540 kick and an inverted handstand (He can also backflip, but not in the video). I was so surprised when I saw it. It could be a double, but i don't think it was.
I await his new videos to see what else he is capable of.

Hah, yeah, that 540 was quite despicable.
inverted handstand is like woahh

May-12-06, 12:33 PM
an invert is when you are like at an angle in a handstand.
haha, so 540 is a dance move now, sweet :good:

I've been told he does Round Off Backs at every concert. I wonder if he's a secret member on the forum.

tbh breakdancers can do 540s if they want, if thats the kind of standard of 540 that warrants an appearance in a music video, then i can get a job doing them anytime.

May-12-06, 03:15 PM
what i mean is i doubt theyr even gonna attempt to make it look like a kick :eh:
it's like we could get some sort of seperation between a dance (gaymax) 540 and a martial arts 540. i dunno if you can see my point, but ya know i just think throwing 540s when your dancing is pretty stupid.
edit: unless you're ben brown or course

eugh.
hollow back is what it's called. inverted hollow back.

May-12-06, 06:27 PM
seeing as how a 540 is all for show anyway, meaning that it's NOT a combat kick, i don't see why some of you guys are getting your panties in a twist about bboys doing them.

I dunno, I did see a pretty effective 540 kick in action on video once. A real match too. Where the camera guy saw it coming.

I'm just mad because they took such a potentially amazing looking move and butchered it like they did in that video.

are you sure it wasn't a tornado kick? because i've seen a tornado used effectively in a match a couple of times.

The invert was uglier than the 540.
The 540 isnt a bboy move either now he doesnt even break in that video. He just "hip hop dances" and pops.
Towlie2110
May-13-06, 04:29 PM
and what if he came out and said he was a trickster
Skilzat85X
May-13-06, 05:42 PM
He'd get shunned by the tricking community.
Nah I doubt he would he's too busy being a stupid rapper and crap.
Although, it may boost the popularity of tricking so people will know what it is and stop saying "real life matrix" or some stupid crap.
Towlie2110
May-13-06, 05:53 PM
hahahhaha true. I do hate that.
"Wow ben you look like those crazy asian matrix guys we saw online, right Brett?"

Where in the video is this 540? I don't wanna watch the whole thing, it bugs me.
**EDIT** I've never actually heard of Chris Brown, is he uber famous or something?
**EDIT** That 540 added absolutely nothing to the video.

It's after the half way mark, maybe about 3/5 of the way in.

Thanks, but I suffered through and found the 540, as the above edit now states.

The future of breakdancing involves the integration of every tricking move you know. Get used to bboys doing 540s.... btwists, corks, double legs, aerials, 720s and whatever else u think may be unique to tricking.

well remember bboys watched kung fu movies in the 70's an emulated what they saw.
bboys double leg over eahcother all the time...tricksters dont even really do that combo.

A) Practically none of the moves you just named are unique to tricking, especially the aerial.

Yea in fact all moves in tricking pretty much stem from gymnastics and/or a martial art.
Ok heres something I still dont get, which art did the corkscrew come from?
Towlie2110
May-15-06, 12:28 PM
Yeah, if anything, tricking stole some moves from BBoying.

lol none its a pure trick...ds got taught that move long ago..so its been around for a while but i dont think anyone can name the creator of the move but its a pure tricking move.
tricking stole 90% of its moves and just used them as foundation for better moves.
bboying was purely on its own...when they discovered capoerira is was purely on coicidence..or maybe sumtin on a genetic level(too sciency for u guys) that they were soo similar.
bboy then took martial arts moves cause back in the 70's in the ghettos thats where kids went on saturdays go watch a matinee kung fu flick. And now bboy got ariels.b-kicks/twists.kip up variations and so forth.
theirs a good article i'll try to find on kung fu cinema on this very subject.

I don't think any kind of sport is "stealing" from others. Except maybe like MLM which is a carbon copy of about 2 of them. I mean can't we all just get along, nobody's stealing anything. We're all just coexisting with the same moves.
Towlie2110
May-15-06, 03:56 PM
I didnt mean stealing in the sense that it says in the dictionary, I meant it more like "uses".
You can definately tell a difference between each sport, and that's what seperates them. Cept for MLM, WTF!
