a week or so back i learnt front tucks on floor in gymnastics...i immediately tried them on turf the next day and could land them decently upright, (knees had some bend but nothing totally ugly)

than the last couple days ive been tryin to film my front tucks, and they all sucked....i either landed them ass to the grass, ass to the grass and had to use an arm to stand up, or like many where my feet hit the ground and i just collapse

i know two big problems are that im not punching straight up, and that i tuck before i even get any air/allow punch to get any height.....im having trouble in terms of technique in punching upwards, and stalling before throwing my arms to tuck...also im gettin sooo much distance rather than height. i go nearly a yard by the marks on the field.

here's the crashes....maybe somebody could further tell me what im doing wrong and how to fix it in terms of technique...

P.S. these landings are fucking up my heels/shins really bad, i have a really bad heel that hurts to walk on...and all of these takes im doin on these bad heel/shins b/c i want my ok-good front tucks back!!!

thanks in advance for tips that i sorely need!

The best way I learned to front tuck, is to force yourself to jump up, best way to do that, is go to your gymnastics club, stack some mats that you want to jump over (about waist high) and then do them, if will get you in habit of doing them correctly in no time, then your even more hardcore because they look cooler when you go over things, like your friends and such.

yes i have, and now it makes sense why my coach/gymnasts coaches online always say keep feet in front of you

i just find it hard to hopstep landing with my feet in front.

the best way, which is a billion times harder than it sounds, is to not start with your arms up, as you hit the ground swing your arms up, also practice straight blocks, just jump up and try to block as much as possible.

okay. seekah's way works really well - it helps for doubleleg too!

if you don't wanna do that, you really hafta jump way up and stall as much as possible, if you're tucking a little too early (which you are), it may be a sign that you're still a bit afraid of getting some height. Stalling for this move is pretty scary, cuz sometimes it feels like you don't have enough forward momentum to tuck through. You should stall with your body at a slight forward angle but not that much to solve the problem.

If you're still frustrated go to a gym. They have mats and all that. An alternate way to learn it would be put a block of mat (block of cheese hehe) in front of you, run up to it, jump on it, punch it, then flip off it. Make sure you have some mats on the floor too. It's pretty easy, and you won't be afraid of stalling.

try this move standing. you won't land it but u will learn to rotate faster at a quick rate if u don't get hurt really bad. try not to play the game land on your tailbone. i always lose at that game.

Another thing is you can try doing really high diverolls, just focusing on getting as much height as possible. As retarded as it sounds it greatly helps learning front tucks.

so i need to put my feet out in front of me and punch up
and furthermore, stall more before actually tucking

ok ill give it a whirl....seems pretty scary/hard
