I'm trying to hold a good handstand but I find that whenever I do, the blood rushes to my head and I get a little dizzy and lightheaded. I also feel my face getting red.
Anybody else experience this or is it just me?
Maybe it's because my arms aren't strong enough to hold up my body yet. In which case, what exercises are good for handstands?

Practice practice practice.
Practicing handstands will strengthen your arms and also the more you practice, the less your head will feel like it's gonna explode.
Alternatively you could try fall asleep in a handstand, then when you wake up you will be awesome.

The blood thing will eventually wear off, its cos you aint used to being upside down, i suggest holding the handstand against a wall.
As for excercises, doing them is fine, but to target the actual muscles, attempt handstand pushups against the wall, or anything that strengthens the shoulders...i guess.

Your head should be in a straight line with your body.
You should look down with your eyes, but your face shouldn't be facing down.
Also, push the ground as hard as you can with your trapezius muscles.

It takes time. Breathe always. I don't have blood rushing to my head anymore after a couple of practice.

oh and don't worry about armstrength, your arms can always hold your body if you keep them locked, handstands are all balance

Hm,, you guys are probably right about the breathing thing.
Thanks!
You might well me tensing up a lot, which would also contribute to the blood rushing to your head (don't ask me why, it just does!)
Try to relax your neck a little more..

Yeah, as everyone has already said, it's purely a practice thing. The more you do them the easier you will find it to reach a point of balance.

Another thing to always remember about handstands is to use your fingers.
If you're falling forward, push with your fingers. If you're falling back then try bending your elbow a bit so you can regain balance.
Handstands aren't that hard.

Well so far right now I'm trying them up against a wall. I've tried it without support but just keep falling over.
Are my legs suppose to be straight a bent?

Damn you all and your abillity to keep your arms locked.
my arms are stuck bent and they have been my entire life. I'm about 20 degrese short of a full range of motion in my elbows
Therefore its difficult to keep myself in a handstand and it takes a lot of effort to avoid crumbling to the ground.
its' normal when blood rushes to your head, i get that as well, but you get used to it thru time and practice. Also curve your fingers as if you're trying to grip the floor during the handstand, it helps balance more
