Hmmm, where to begin...
well, a bit of an intro and an explanation would be in order I guess...

Hey, Sup, Yo, Howdy, Whatever.
I'm Dys.

Right, I'm new to tricking (about three days now) and I've kinda jamp in at the deepend... I've taught myself to Aerial and Backflip so far (even though my landings and form are crusty) and this is only because I've been practicing parkour for about 6 months (I'm sure you've heard of/seen it around in a few places... it's like tricking but with a lot less skill involved and basically you run riot and go for complete open freedom and get in trouble with the police for running through people's gardens and climbing over their walls.... damn kids.)

Anyways! To get to the point, courage seems to be a big issue with tricking, and I've gotta be honest, I really can't get the balls to even try my hand at butterfly twists or double legs... Perhaps I'm just rushing in too fast.

What kind of methods and suggestions do you guys have for boosting courage aside from visualising yourself succeeding? Or would most of you vouch that failure really is the best medicine?

Thanks In advance =]

Boosting courage. Well, I can only find one way to do so: Do what you are afraid to do. Do those Btwists, now, go out and do them? Rains? Who cares, do a btwist, find some grass, and do it.

Do it!

Backflip fear, that's the biggest problem. Do you do a B kick? If so, I repeat yet again, do that B twist, come back and tell us how it went!

I guess you've found out that the tricking basics are a hell of a lot harder than Parkour. Enjoy.

Well, using tricks in free running is awesome. You can almost call free running a type of parkour/tricking kind of thing.

ANd of course, Parkour is AWESOME if you find an AWESOME location to do it at, if not, Parkour is just jumping over a fence.. :)

Do what I said: act impulsively. Do your actions in your dreams have any inhibition? No? That's because they happen instantly. You're just as likely to fall on your head and kill yourself now as you would be if you stand there shitting yourself for 10 minutes, so it's best just to react instantaneously to the impulse to trick.
