View Full Version : Help my illusion kick and reverse gainer :)
Hey guys, i was wondering if you could give me some help on these two tricks, here are the two vids
Illusion kick (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=AA124326067BA840)
Reverse gainer (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=3A45170B669387F9)
i think i am treating the illusion kick to much like a btwist, i think i need to work on straightening my non kicking leg and turning it into more of a 360 cresent.
The reverse gainer i find hard, i never find i can get enough height on it, i have tried not arching my back as much and it helps, but i still can't get around.
any advice is much appreciated

With the Illusion kick you're lifting your back leg up way to high. After you lift it up however much, you need to lower it again to the kick can pass cleanly along. That, and straighten your legs.
With the reverse gainer it almost looks like you're not trying that hard. You're just hopping around then you turn and do it. You need to job, turn&plant, then SWING your leg up and arms up hard. Try to swing your leg straight. A reverse gainer is really no different than the J-step in terms of the actual gainer. Just think of it as a gainer, just because it's a reverse it's nothing special.
ahh ok, i was watching the rev. gai. and i realised i don't kick up at all, my leg is just bent and just pushes my up, i get no swing out of it

haha man on your rev gainer walk into it, dont stay on one leg and hop like u did hehe. just walk briskly then hop around once :good:
haha, thats what they generally look like though, only reason i was on one leg was cos i was trying to do a btwist swingthrough, and landed with a leg in the air and thought, oh well i try a rev gainer.

Your illusion kick is too much like a shuriken twist (meant to be harder but I can shuriken and struggle like fuck to illusion). You need to stand up almost straight after the b kick set up and outer crescent. Some people think of it as a B kick start with a crescent on the second leg. I think that is far too complicated and causes all sorts of problems. to be honest you should take your Btwists backwards and think about becoming vertical as you start your b-kick.
G dong's tut on this kicks ass by the way.
Gainer = j step = the win (as Juji says). Just go and try them, you will nail them straight away. By the way, I practiced my j step for two sessions solid before I got the courage to try them so hammer them until you feel comfortable enough.
i can j step, but i wanted to get rev's down, god knows why, look theres a j step at 1.31 on my vid
