lol doubtful
towlie, i have to say, everytime you try moves like this i find the videos pretty hilarious. However, if want to progress here take these things in steps. Your cork does get better by the end, but build up your other swing thru moves first. Instead of trying hopeless gainer flashes, build up your gainer tuck and get really comfortable. I guess what i'm saying is: establish some technique first so you can actually get help and execute these moves first.
no offense, but right now i dont see you landing either of those... thats not to say stop trying but sometimes you have to clean up all your basics first.

I dissagree with your method jesse, although Im sure that will help, learning prerequisites are not required.
I landed the full wayyyy before I could ever layout.
I take a gymnastics class and the instructor pisses me off because he never gives me tips on the moves im training, he just tells me to work on the ones below. Although that probably is a good idea, I would still like to know how to complete the moves I am working right now.

Also, I can't see how you don't think Im close to either of the moves.

You can definately LAND these moves but your form is so wickedy wack so it makes that impossible. Should focus on the flash moves and back tuck before moving to cork. Trust me, I was the same way. When I first started tricking (only about 2 months ago), I thought the cork was so cool and that was the only move I tried. I did not make any progress, I started getting better at backflips, then learned b-twist and the flash moves (took me longest of the three). Then I just barely learned the cork about 2 weeks ago. You should be happy, at least you are willing to commit to the spin even after falling like that. I would stiffen up and it would look like a 180 moonkick to faceplant. Just concentrate on form for all of your tricks, train, and it will all fall together.
I dont know why I totally went on and on about this. Either it was because I had the same problem or I have nothing to do...just waiting for the X-games to start:wink:

umm.. just kick harder, higher, and lean back. get more comftorable for using the kicking leg as an actual kick rather than just swinging it up. lean back and thrust ur hips for that horizontal look. and later u'll get the concept of timing ur cork., practice. =)
You are so far away...
In a cork you have to jump back and twist, you are jumping up and twist, you are just leaning back a bit and you are even landing on your stomach.
Seriously, why don't you analyze moves just one time instead of just going out and try them.
You will be the first guy who dies from a bail.

hmmm why take a gym class and not listen to your coach? why post for help and TT and not listen? that fact of the matter is you CAN'T do those moves, and if you're not willing to take some advice for it then don't post it.
landing basically on your stomach doesn't constitute being close to a gainer flash.
Learning prerequisites is the natural and best method of progression (yes the one you disagree with). Master those first, instead of establishing bad technique with moves out of your range so that they become far easier when you are ready to do them... fool

umm.. i got corkscrew in 2 hours, all it took was analyzing the moves. u dont need any prerequistes *ur right*, just analyze the points and angles you kick at, thrusting hips, laying back. corkscrews are timing and posture. hope my tips helped.

mabye i should try that i havent even attempeted it yet....except once but it ended horriblelly
i'm just gonna disagree, why try corks when theres so much else he should be working on it (have you seen his 540?). also kjungsxii certain people pick up on certain moves quicker... its doesnt mean anyone can learn a cork in 2 hours

I was told by somone, maybe munks or lohan, that to get a feel for a cork I should just try to get the spin down, then slowly turn it horizontal. Much like landing a backtuck on one foot and working into a flash.
Also, it feels like Im spinning a whole lot. Could I cheat the rotation any more than I am?

jooler22 is that ur dumb dog
Yes, when it was just a young pup. The dumb dog knows that a laser pointer is the source of the light. It KNOWS when you pick up the laser what will happen, yet it continues to jump ion the littte red dot for eternity. It locked itself into my parents closet one time too. AND, she is also an escape artist (GIANT WOODEN JAIL CELL WITH OLD BED FRAME OVER IT)
My dog is crazy

umm.. dont do spinning first and dont cheat, or it'll be an oldschool cork like DS'. that really screws up the corkscrew technique itself. just think of the mechanics of corkscrew,. corkscrew to me is like a machine that works exactly in a specific order... heres mine:
1. spinning setup
2. roundhouse at 45*
3. thrust hips
4. wrap arms
5. twist w/ shoulders
6. try to stand up for landing.
even if u fall when u corkscrew 100 times keep going!.,
before standing up u should try to get kneelands/bilang.
GO FOR IT!!!!
Towlie2110 well im kinda like you, i like to try new things nice prog dud !
keep training!!
:} trow the leg stronger in the cork and commit in the flash!

cork = gainer, then spin. you're just spinning.

im opposite of towlie for this cuz instead of spinning good first i got horizontal, i guess thats more painful way to learn

dont learn to run when u cant even walk.

Aug-05-06, 04:52 AM
for the flash, its the kick that gives you the rotation, you have to kick so hard. Try kicking sooner and tucking the trailing leg up tight behind you, i know flashes look better when you leave the trailing leg out behind you but to learn a flash its prob best to tuck it.
As for your cork i would suggest getting some moves down such as a gainer (both straight and j-step), and moonkick before going for the cork.
Hope this helped
Towlie2110
Aug-05-06, 09:28 AM
I think tucking the trailing leg should let me finish it.
I hate how I put my hands down like when I was learning Aerials.
I think of the cork as a completely different move than a gainer. I can see a moonkick, but what you described was a gainer full.
I think If I stalled more and let my body straighten out and get horizontal first it would make the spin easier.
Also, you have to start somwhere

Also, I found when I Run then turn completely around instead of just running at an angle, it makes my moves higher. So I'll try putting that to the cork technique.

agh just analyze the techniques. if u analyze the moves right *as juji, and hans says*, you'll catch on the moves VERY quickly. look at the techniques and every detail its done. and thinking that a cork as a gainer w/ a twist isnt good for you... -_-';; if u look at cork that way.. its seriously gonna mess it up. i think of corkscrew as a individual trick like a 540. 540 is just a basic' of tricking. soo try to think of corkscrew as a root of a trick itself. and if u say a cork is a gainer w/ a twist... wouldnt that be.. gainer full -_-';;...
