dude don't throw ur hands backwards... Instead try to pull your left(if u sideflip to the righ) shoulder up and jump and tuck. Ur running "sideflip" looks more like a gainer...
EDIT: And don't throw ur torso back but kinda jup and to the side, if that makes sence

yeh, i think its cos i swing my arms back as if i was doing a backflip so thats how it ends up :(

you dont jump to the side, you just jump up, and the block takes you over, fool
The tuck takes me over, I don't know 'bout you

you just couldn't let it rest did u? Ah, well I meant that the tuck helps me come around. I've never actually thought what creates the side momentum, I think it's the shoulder I'm talking about. It've always helped me a lot, even when I almost didn't block. E.g. I tried a fflip on sand once and my block just slid through the sand, though my sideflips were ok...

ITS THE BLOCK, ONLY THE BLOCK, NOTHING ELSE
this would make it impossible to do from standing?

Yes, standing 'sideflips' dont exist, they're called 'egg flips'
i beg to differ, one of my fellow texas trickzters zorilla does them quite often, from what i understand the arms are the secert, ask him some time.

yes, that's what I try to say here, too. The arms are supposed to give u the power, but mr. Tim here tries to prove that he and only he knows the secret behind a perfect sideflip. :eh:

Not only me, just not you.
I wasn't claiming I knew. lol

Yes you can do 'standing sides' but using your torso to torque over is just bad technique
U misunderstood what I was trying to say...

User Name why are you being such an arrogant, foul mouthed prick all the time? What are you trying to compensate for?

I actually agree with asshat Username on this one.

Oh and nice sidewards backflip you got there Looping Dragon

You need to start all over 'cause you're doing it totally wrong. Watch Dogen's tutorial.

Oh and that was actually how I got my backflip on tramp when I was like 12. I was gonna do a sideflip but fucked up just like you and did a backflip and then I could do them whenever I wanted :) (Yes tramps are gay balblalba. probably not as gay as Username's avatar though)

hmmm...try actually flipping over your SIDE, there are multiple ways to do a sideflip but I would suggest watching dogen's tutorials @ www.dogentricks.com (http://www.dogentricks.com)
you might want to check out: http://www.streettrickz.com/tutorials/?itemid=34297 if you like the one legged approach

or just copy my avatar ;)

good luck

To be honest your first technique is pretty good and should be worked on and not shelved. If you rotate slightly more you will have a standing arabian which is a nice trick to have in anyone's book!

I would personally concentrate on the Dogen tut and there is one floatng around here by a buy in Europer who does the one foot take off. It's an awesome tut so it may be worth requesting sideflip tuts on the share your vids page.

Your flips aint bad! You got a good stall, keep it up!

do you think its better to tuck by grabbing the shins or the back of the legs with a sideflip?

You flip to early. It's too easy. I didn't know how to do it until I just recently went outside (ten to fifteen minutes ago) and landed on my first try. You know how?

I followed dogens tutorial, simple and easy. I read every word at least twice, and watched the clips over and over again. Flex your abs on take off and tuck, that should keep yourself aligned..

well with your sideflip your still kinda doing some backflip-ish things, especially your arm movements. Better though.

And I think you could nail that 180 back flip if you follow through with your head as well. Watch the vid notice how you're still staring in the original direction. Look at where you're going and it'll be awesome
