so yesterday i felt inspired by Dogen's tut and decided to grab my camera and record some j-turn gainer practice in my front yard.

after getting up the nerve to try it, the very first one i had ever tried i landed fairly clean. i would love some helpful hints from you guys to make it better, though. i know my j is fugly and large... i just can't do it super small yet, haha.

but anywho... i think editing my shit's fun and adding music to it, so i hope you all like it.. peace!

Very good. Especially for first attepmts. Keep them up, they should be clean in no time! The difference is not in your conditioning by the way, the last few were all just whip backs and the first few actually had some height. Concentrate in jumping up aswell as leaning back and they will become easy again!

haha, well part of it is conditioning, because i'm VERY winded after doing about 3 in a minute. that seems bad, to me... but maybe it's normal? i donno'. doesn't help that i smoke either. bleh. wish i could quit! kids, DON'T EVER SMOKE! IT IS BAD!

yeah, i felt myself whipping back a little bit, too. i try to concentrate on the peak power and height principle thing that dogen talks about in his tut.. it's tough, coming from a gymnastics background, because we weren't taught that way. buuuut, i'm learnin' slowly, so it's all good :D

not bad at all. I didnt see much of a cut though. You were almost going stright into the flip. Cut a bit more and throw your whole leg, not just your knee. That will help with momentum and getting up there.

Keep training!

the first ones you were doing more of a J shaped run up and you were landing them, but the last ones you were doing an arced run up and you werent landing them. Concentrate on the shape of the run up more and kick your leg up hard and keep it straight. Looking at the end of your foot will help you go up more.
