His claims are rediculous, and barely even make any sense. Ignore him from this time on.

if you can easily dish out 25 pushups, you need to move on to resistance.

'Sides, pushups are gayass

What is with the military's gay obsession with pushups?

I asked a Marine, and this is what he told me

Raging Boner says:
no idea. we dont have them on our Physical Fitness Test. army does. we just do a lot of push ups because the Marine Corps is cocky
Raging Boner says:
you dont have to be able to do a set number of them for the MC.
Raging Boner says:
so i dunno
Raging Boner says:
i'll throw down with a soldier in a push up competition anyday, though
Raging Boner says:
y u ask?

The army has no interest in breeding muscle monsters, they want men who can trudge 40 miles with a 50 pound pack. Their philosophy is that endurance is much more useful to a soldier than muscle.

DO IT!!! i do bout 4 sets of 100 push ups every other day.
If you cant do 100 yet, do as many as you can at regular speed, after you hit your peak, say at about 60 - 70 push ups, continue doing them on your knees. i got used to in about 2 weeks, and i dont even get on my knees no more.

"Once you do 100 pushups with perfect form, only then should you be concerned with adding weight."

I agree for the most part, but it's not unhealthy to do 100 pushups. It's not really that beneficial in any way, but it has no real negative effects either.

Let me introduce you to the concept of diminishing returns. Actually, I am too lazy too. Just keep that idea in mind, and all should make sense.

if you can do 45 in a row aim to do 50, when you get to 45 do 1 more... than 1 more... than 1 more... till 50. Feel the burn those last push ups are where you are making big gains in how many you can do. after 50 do situps to rest your arms. go at it with the same attitude. then go back to push ups and do 25. or more if you can. then sit ups, then push ups... 20, sit ups, push ups.
try that instead of 100 pushups a day.

I was able to do the same about 60 pushups/situps in a minute (not at the same time obviously) but I also lost it cause I had exams and couldn't train as much as I wanted to. I'm gonna try and see how many I can get.

It wouldn't hurt to do them. It's better than sitting on your ass doing nothing as an alternative. It's good for joints too, for old people. But think about it, if you take a 1lb weight and lift it 100 times it isn't going to make you and stronger, even if it gets hard to do near the end. Same can be taken into concideration with pushups. It's a good exercise with no other alternative. I NEVER do regular pushups any more, they are pretty worthless for me. I am able to do many, just so that i can say that i can do tons. But in reality they serve no real purpose. You are better off doing a bodyweight bench press 100 times. Although... if you can bench your bodyweight 100 times that would probably be useless for you too.

But everyone should be able to do 50-100 pushups. just in case. just incase the situation arrises where some asshole challenges you to a pushup contest and can only do 49. then you're good to go :good:

If that situation arises Ill do a planche pushup. If someone wants a pullups comp ill do a one arm pullup or lever pull up. Cant do any of that stuff yet but i tried to increase my endurance and nothing happened, my strength is improving nicely.

I can do about 128 push ups in perfect form, but that's because I hardly weight anything and I'm short as crap, so there's not very much work I do per push-up.

Like mentioned before, the only benefit I see is for your joints : / So I'd recommend just moving on to bench pressing, I do about 3X10reps of 95lbs (including the bar) atm, just a bit longer and I can do my body weight, woohoo!
