Hi,
this might have been answered before but.....
I can hold a Tuck planche for about 30 seconds but I don't think my hips are up high enough to be able to transfer to the adv. tuck planche.
How do I work on getting my hips up higher?
thanks

I'm guessing the answer is, practice.
if u have a mirror to look into then watch your positioning. but to get ur hips in the right place just takes practice, there's no magic trick to doing that. Also, skip the adv tuck planche and go straight to straddle planches and keep trying to hold them until you can hold them. adv tuck planche is worthless in my opinion. u'd be wasting your time with little benefit. practice practice practice!

Well on another forum they said if they were low just press extra hard with your shoulders/ and or lean a little more forward.
So you want me to skip the adv. tuck planche. fine with me. BUt idk if I have the core strength to hold my legs out like that! But I guess working back levers and reverse hyper extension will help. How would I get into the straddle position? from the knee's on elbows and then kick them out? or from the tuck planche and kick them out?
and should I keep my hands facing forward? (I can't hold it with hands to the side or back)
Leaning forward won't necessarily lift your hips. you have to physically move your hips around to get them into the correct position, using your shoulder muscles. Just as there is a forward and back in a planche there is an up and down from handstand to floor which is controlled by your shoulders as well. it's about just finding the correct position.
As far as straddle planches go, stand in a straddle stance. Feet are wider than your shoulders but nowhere close to a split. now hands are placed fairly far out but not as far as you would put them if you were doing a pushup with your legs apart and not so close that your shoulders are already in front of your hands. hips should be bent. from there you just lean forward and pick up your feet (or jump and try and hold if you aren't strong enough to lift your legs). jumping and pausing momentarily will build up strength. just do it A LOT and make yourself tired.
Do whatever you want with your hands. Whichever doesn't hurt you. if your hands are forward just make sure you have strong wrists. when i do my planches w/ my hands forward i will usually have the very base of my hand off the ground (this requires a lot of wrist strength) to create stability in the wrist as well as to prevent undue strain on them by putting them in a position that they werent ment to be in.

Okay. I'll just stick with the tuck planche for now(because I can't hold the straddle or even come close) and continue working back levers, hyperextensions, frontal dumbell raises in more of a full planche position to build up the strength extra strength needed.
Should I focus on tightening anything up in the straddle planche? like glutes, abs. etc?

okay so the glutes abs and what else?
and how do you tighten up your lower back?
and if it was a duh am I suppose to tighten up anything on the tuck planche(besides tris and shoulders)?

Well I tried pushing extra hard and leaning a little more forward and (my dad said) I starting falling around 12 seconds but It was the highest my hips have ever been before.
Do tuck planches help with dips? because I did 12 full dips and I never could have down that before.
first off, use common sense. you don't need us to explain everything word for word, this stuff isn't very complicated. also, don't ask how to tighten a muscle... what do you expect us to say? You just tighten it. Tighten your whole body, meaning point your toes, squeeze ur ass, and tighten ur abs.

Unfortunately, from some of the other posts I've seen from this guy, we may need to explain these things for him,
sure seems that way. It might be more entertaining if we just watching him try and figure it out himself though. easier for us too.

it's going shit tho, i can't even tuck planche for longer than a second. this will take far more work than i expected, and i don't even know if i use a correct technique since i fall back down so fast

okay...I just didn't know how to control my lowerback and I was asking the questions cause you obviously know a lot more about planches then me.....but thanks anyways
i know a lot about planches, yes. but i shouldn't have to teach you how to make your muscles "tight". if you don't even know how to do that, i would recommend you not even think about doing planches for a few years. You most likely aren't in good enough shape if you don't know how to make a select muscle tight. Squeezing your ass muscles makes your lower back tight.... meh.
Just put yourself to the correct position and your muscles will tighten, if they will not you won't make it to the right position.
Practice idiots and stop asking for advice.
It's not like planche is that hard.

ummmm.........
and I didn't know tightening your ass was also tightening your lowerback
common sense. think about it a little bit. hang on a bar and tighten your ass, your legs and lower back tighten. also, try tightening your ass and then bending your legs... won't happen. next... try tightening your ass and bending over... won't happen. there's your experiment... concider that proof enough. now go get ur tight ass out there and work on ur planche instead of asking redundant questions. :good:

I have gotten better in the planche and can bend my arms and kick out my feet! I also can do the tuck planche with my hands sideways now!
