Hey there everyone,
I've cheated and finally landed an aerial. What's wrong is I cheated and landed the whole inverted B-kick thing. So, that's all fine and dandy for combos and what not, but I cannot do a gymnastics aerial. I realize that I cannot get any variations (axe2aerial, reverse aerial, etc.) without having the basic gymnastic aerial. What's worse is that I can't do my shitty aerial just by itself without the b-twist setup. Any advice on how to turn my side to side aerial to a forward facing one? For some reason, it seems like the technique is completely different.

You can't turn it into one :( they're two completely different dynamics, start training for the gymnast one by doing cartwheels and just go from there.. dont try to turn one into the other.. learn both :)

Out of curiosity how did you do the inverted bkick one if you were trying for the gymnast one to start with?

I had actually stopped trying the gymnast aerial because I couldn't get it for months and then pulled my hip flexor. The other day someone I was tricking with mentioned inverting your b-kick, so I tried it right then and got that like nothing. My problem is I go into it too much from the side. I have been trying to study vids with the correct gymnastics form, and it seems like they are facing forward until the point of when they jump, and then they turn to the side. I had been drilling my diving cartwheels, but for some odd reason, that didn't seem to help.

What I don't understand is the dynamics of the 180 degree rotation. When you lift your back leg up, are you lifting it straight back or to you use it to create that twist?

I can twist well when I bring my leg up from the side, but not when I bring it straight back...could this have something to do with my poor hip flexor flexibility?

Unfortunately, I have no way of getting a vid on youtube at the moment. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

i learned my gymnastic one from a trickster one.
i just sort of threw it and then it came easy. keep your body straight until you have pushed off the ground. thats my only advice
