Ok, today i had improved loads on my backflips. These are easily the best ones ive done, except look how crouched i land still!

I know what your gonna say "JUMP UP, NOT BACK", i know i know, i try to every time, its not as easy as that...

I can't backflip but maybe, if you're jumping backwards when trying to jump up, you should try jumping slightly forwards (I'm serious). This might defeat the urge to go backwards.

Hey thats not a bad idea! It may eliminate alot of my momentum though, but ill give it a go.

Why are you posting the same backflips again and again without any improvement?
That's annoying.

First of all, i only filmed these today.
Secondly, it IS an improvement, because before i was backflipping down a slope
Thirdly, if your talking about my other flat ground backflips video, i was using a matress and i landed even more crouched then these..
Fourthly, my other thread had disappeared after tricks tutorials went down for a few hours.

Yes! That works, I landed my first backflips that way.

As Papa has stated above if you attempts at jumping UP are actaully jumping backwards then your perception of UP is obviously wrong, in that sense when you try to jump forward (You won't actaully go forward because your perception is wrong) you'll go at least a little less back, there for more up.

Eh...this sounds stupid it didn't sound this retarded in my head but you get the picture.

Evetually you might find yourself actaully going forwards, then you know your probably ready to just trying jumping up, if not just give it a shot every once in a while, I can't really remember how or why I stoped but I don't need to try and jump forward anymore.

Edit: As the guy under me said delaying helps, the jumping forward thing helps you to delay as well, I forgot the mention that because you tend to look forward for that split second longer than you normally would because you're looking at where your wanting to go.

ye defiatly jump UP, this is not easy to do and will only come with practise. Also tucking tighter will help you cos u have a really loose tuck at the moment

its kinda weird, you are not whipping your head back, but you are putting it back... two suggestions: 1.try to backflip with jsut the slightest amount of leg-bend cause you seem to drift backwards while you dip, and 2. put your arms BEHIND your head before you start to flip, you are starting to flip when they are at like 45 degrees and they reach a max of 80ish, it should be 120-135 (30 to 45 on the other side of your head) for both numbers

don't understand, buy a protractor

..So dont tuck at all? Just leave my legs out? That's kinda... awkward =p

I actually gained ground on my first backflips.

I can't do that for the life of me now though. :(

ur not extending through the legs, u are getting a shitload of distance that could be instead be height

jump straight up, look forward, stall a bit, and crunch the hips/knees in towards chest hard and land

Ok, so today i forced myself to jump up, and i *tried* to tuck earlier... I landed the best one ive done to date.. Im worried my vert isnt good enough though, i mean i used everything i had and i still landed crouched = /

u are pretty much tucking/rotating straight off the ground...thats your problem. has nothin to do with your vert at this point

I had tucked earlier than i have been on purpose. Ive been told privately by two members that i was tucking too late.. And i tucked earlier and i landed better... Now your telling me to not tuck earlier. What do i do?!!?! I think its just my vert, i cant land one with legs extended yet = /

Just build up lots of confidence for the move. Keep practicing and practicing and practicing. Eventually you will get it right. Just jump higher and more upwards.
