most people say au batido funny. Tim is the best... someone should record tim saying "that be an exploder that be"... man i'd love that as the message tone on my phone.
some people say raiz is pronounce "hiyaz" but tbh i think they were just being bullshitted. Its Raiz, like Ray-s.

that's what i thought... seems quite gay really.
with your cork dude, only look down to find your foot placement, then aim your focus point up cos when you focus up, that's where you will go. if you do this you will be able to delay more and the momentum of your kicking leg swinging up like that will be able to carry you to being more inverted.
hope that helps...
i'm talking to kyukodo by the way

Hey what a cool thread, I have a question on this topic, in person when your talking about btwists do you actaully call them btwists like say the letter 'b' or do you say butterfly twist, just wondered because I always just say 'btwist' but I probably sound like an idiot, I thought it might only be shortened for typing for example like bflip and dleg and I'm pretty sure no one runs around going 'Oh wow a bflip'
I have heaps of other questions like this but I can't remember any others right now.

i think btwist and bkick are like the only two that people say in person. other than that i think anyone will think you are talking about kam sutra if you say "i'm gonna bflip of a ledge". FLIP EM OVER AND UP THE B-SIDE!!!! or not

Au Batido has always been a tough one to pronounce... To help all of those who are ever uncertain or confused I have prepared the following visual aid:
When pronouncing Au Batido, think "Aww, Bat Tito!"
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y217/hapkidoka/AwBatTito.jpg
As in, "Aww" how cute, a flying mammal (with a huge erection) "Bat", version of "Tito" Ortiz.

Oh you are soooo right! It's really anoying when you look back at a trick like that on vid, and you go, 'Oh my god, I could easily have landed that if I had traied to fucking land it!!!!'
There's always next week I guess!
Raiz i think like TKD Andy said is hayeez, but that sounds crap so rays does for me!
When I first saw the au batido in like 1997 or something stupid, we just called it the capoeira kick and thus it was christened! Our entire dojo called it that for like 3 years until we found out what it was really called and how to pronounce it!
sna poo swipe
awe buh tee dough

I donīt know the right form to spell snapuswipe, I usually say "sna-poo-swipe". About raiz and au batido, these words comes from brazilian and spanish, languages which you pronounce the word exactly like the words are written, so maybe people who talks english could be a little confused.
Raiz: http://www.learningportuguese.co.uk/audio/general/raiz.wav (you sould pronounce the R stronger than this example.
Au Batido: au is like "aw", and "batido" check it out (in this example, voice said "el batido= the batido". http://eljuego.dicoson.free.fr/sonido/vocabulario/bar/batido.wav
and for the record kjer is pronounced 'cager' not 'k'jaer' lolololololol
I thought it was K-jay-yaaaa

the au part of au batido is pronouced
"ah-oo" 2 syllables
Au translates to cartwheel and the people that i know in capoeira (including instructors) pronouce it that way. not "Aw"
what about Gary Ip?
ip as in grip?
if I had his name i'd be Gary I.P.
edit:
oh and Tony Nguyen

yeah but say it fast, it sounds like ow. the ah and the oo part just kinda mush together, so it sounds like ow.
gary ip, i say it like rip. and im pretty sure its like that, but who knows?

i have been reliably informed that you DO actually pronounce Raiz 'hiyaz' because of brazilians pronouncing R's as H's.
still, im calling them Raiz.
although i say au bat-ee-do i thought it was pronounced au ba tchi oh, but i think it is actully au batido cus i heard some guy at capoeira say au bat - ee - do anyway i think snapuswipe is snap- uu (not as in you but uuu) swipe but i don't know.
