Guess what. Hijack time. I'm going to shoot you with a tutorial. TIEM TO BAM IT UP A NOTCH HOHOHOHHOH, SINCERILY DAN.

Print this guide out, do as you please. JKT, I KNOW you have been working this move forever, so this one is especially for you. I know how determined you are, so damnit, I want you to get this move. You deserve it.

Let's start this:

Your takeoff:
I suggest follwoing (TKD) Andy's example (if he hasn't come back to TT, I send out my regards and best wishes to him); his 540 takeoff is GREAT for this. Powerful, deep, vigorous, and most of all: coordinated.
If you are unaware of his takeoff, it works as such:

[The sidestep takeoff:
Spread your legs about shoulderwidth apart. Face forward, be comfortable and loose. When you takeoff, look in the direction your leading shoulder is, and begin to wind your arms. Now, step back a little with your back foot, and put weight on it; your knee will bend, and your front leg will simply be waiting for the takeoff. From there, throw your arms and step through. This method is GREAT for generating power (and apparently, very hard to explain.)]

Now, get this down. Get it good. For every 540 take off move, you will use this takeoff, no other works as well (for many, but not for all).

There are many things to note on the takeoff. In my opinion, I beileve this is the most important part of the move; it will directly affect the outcome of every motion thereafter. The takeoff can be the deciding factor between having enough power to correctly position this move.

Now, first: the arms. The arms directly effect the angle of the raiz. Notice on a 540, the arms come straight, perpindicular to the chest, generating power on a horizontal level to help the kick through and to help lift your entire body? Well, this takeoff utilizes this takeoff, but you must ANGLE your arms and DIP your chest, instead of keeping both square and straight. Why is this? Simply because your center of gravity always follows your torso and shoulders, just like it always follows your vision. Through angling your arms, you create momentum that forces the chest to open, as well as helps lay the body out horizontally, allowing the invert to happen smoothly. Through dipping your chest, it helps keep it facing the ceiling upon take off, and helps open it, allowing the invert to happen.

This move takes power. Therefore, it takes a powerful takeoff. However, more importantly, it takes the coordination.

With the takeoff stepping through, the move occurs...

The move itself:

Tricky. That is what a raiz is. Attention to detail is the way to get this move in tip top shape. Patience, determination, and power are nescessary. Without one of those, you may never truly get this move to the shape you want it to be. Time is the fairest judge, the say...

Upon takeoff (remember the angling and dipping I was talking about?), there is one thing you must always remember to generate more power in any move: take off of your toes. I don't care about explaining the physics or science behind it, but all I can tell you is that it works wonders. Any move, you name it, can be enhanced by simply taking off of your toes.

Now, for that takeoff leg, there are a few things you should follow. As with the gainer flash, a rule of thumb is that you should throw the leg up bent in order to generate power, a "chamber" of the leg. I agree. Throwing the leg up using the knee and thigh generates more power than using the whole leg. Also, as with the gainer flash, you must REACH with the leg. Do not simply throw the leg up and let it hang, but you must power through this move. Don't throw the leg up; try to throw the leg up like your trying to kick yourself in the head, and pull it.

With those tips in mind, throw the leg up chambered. This is only the first tiny part.

You'll be horizontal by this point, airborne and ready to invert. Inverting is what makes this move so tricky; it takes a lot of small adjustments to find the perfect method.

In order to invert, three things must happen. One, you MUST open up your chest. Push that chest out as hard as you can. Two, you must force yourself to look for the ground by bending your back, NOT your neck. Three, you need to push your hips up. The most important of these steps is the first. A lot of people have problems inverting because they do not open their chest. By opening your chest, it helps the back bend and the hips push, making for the invert to happen much more naturally.

So, at this point, you are pulling the leg and unchambering, opening your chest, pushing your hips up (the easiest way to do this? Flex your butt), and arching back, looking for the ground. This part takes a lot of practice and determination. You may not get it completely for a long while, so don't give up.

From here, the motion is beginning to finally come together, and the landing is coming. However, at this point, there are a few things to consider:

Do not just arch, but rather, arch and pull with your back, allowing your whole body to power through the move. As well, do not forget your arms; they should be helping the shoulders and chest open and pull. Throw them hard, pull them hard. Also, I cannot stress this enough: keep pulling with that leg. REACH. Reach with those toes!

We finally come to the final step, the landing:

This is it. You can make the move or break it entirely here. You WILL make it if you've pulled with your upper body, with your arms, and you're reaching the ground in your vision with that leg. Kick for that ground. Reach for it.

When coming in for the landing, pull your chest up. It helps the move flow through into the landing, and it gives you a much easier landing. Also, did I mention to reach for the ground with that leg?

From here, if you've done it correctly, the landing will be even easier than landing most one foot landing moves. It requires power, but once you get the motion, it requires much less power than say...a gainer flash.

So, recap. In order...
-Start with a good, swift, and powerful side step takeoff.
-Angle the arms, dip with your chest.
-Throw the leg up, chamber, reach for your face.
-Unchamber the leg, open your chest, push up your hips (again, flex your butt), power through with the arms and shoulders, REACH with the leg, spot the ground.
-Pull your chest up, reach for the ground.
-Fart.

Here is a small clip of the move (mine isn't the best, nor was it a good shot. Ah well) as done by myself. Many people say it's been good for learning off of , so take a look. You'll notice the steps played in motion (except the takeoff, excuse me).

I hope this helps out those in need. I aim to please, and I know how furstating this move can be.

If you have any more questions, please ask. I will be happy to answer them :)

Good luck, guys.

 The Raiz is a great move, example: spin hook - Raiz - gainer flash

Not a huge combo, but very effective. Watch the ben brown tribute on youtube and you will see why I think that Raiz is such a cool move.

And JKT, don't get me wrong, I got nothing against ya, but seriously, you do post how much you want to learn a raiz like 98 times in every thread... bit exaggerated but only to get the point across, dude if you want it that much...tell people, once, then, when you get it, theres people feeling happy for you or what not, not people thinking "finally!, no more posts on how much he wants it". Your obviously not doing it right, so watch tuts etc.. but people don't want a day to day documentry on how close you are. Tips I could give you? umm... try kicking your first leg up really hard while you jump as high as you can with the other leg, then LEAN BACK! like you would for a backflip, and kickover you shoulder/head like you would for a Gflash. Personally I think the raiz is fucking awesome, but i'm useless at trying them, let alone doing them! but a dude I trick with (GravityJay) has a fucking good raiz so I would try those tips, its what i've seen from his Raiz... =]
