Anyone in to it? I've been starting to move my handstands away from the wall recently, tried som planches and stuff. It's really fun.

I have one question though, when practicing planches, I feel a high pressure on both of my wrists. They are both flexible and well excercised and it doesen't really hurt, just feels like I'll regret it all later on in life.

Is doing planches with palms facing forward bad for your wrists?

I've been handbalancing for a couple years.

Do what feels right. Its as simple as that.

Are most 16 year olds with no gymnastics training meant to be able to just "do some planches" one day?

I do handbalancing with hands pointed foward when the wrists don't need to angle very much, for planches I put my hands almost sideways, but not backwards. Try get yourself some paralletes, then you don't have to worry about the wrist thing that much. Or you can try planche on your fingers, start slow though, to develop strength in them. Do some wrist flexibility exercises for your wrists to prevent injury.

Sorry, tuck-planches. Also note that I said "tried some planches".

Another question, when training for bodyweight excercises, is doing them to failure a good thing? I work on them 1-2 times a week (except for some easier handbalancing wich I try to do everyday) and almost go to failure most of the times. But my chins for example, hasn't really improved much at all during the last months.

No. Work them often and fresh. As soon as you're strong enough, try to do tuck planches with your fingers facing either to the side or backwards.

What can happen if I continue to practice them with fingers facing forwards? Tendonitis?

Don't know, but as you bend foward more, you're putting a lot of strain on the wrist joint, so it'll probably collapse, if you add to much resistance, especially if you don't try and make it more flexible, but I'm not expert.

Would excercising the wrist/forearm for strength fix the problem?

If it can recover, sure.

Does anyone ever do wrist pushups? I can't, they hurt too much. How do people set records for that? I feel like I'm busting a ligament.

In the flexibility forum there's a video of a handbalancer doing the splits and stuff.
