As a result of my carelessness while running and tricking, I have developed shin splints. I run 5-6 days a week for track, and my shoes are kind of worn down, and I trick whenever I can find the time and I'm not too sore. What should I do to start healing my shins?

SHIN SPLINTS SUCK TREMENDOUSLY.
I do track, and after a hard session i can hardly walk for days :)
shit i don't know how to fix it. maybe ice, anti-inflammatory may offer a temporary solution.
Are you flat footed (overpronator).
It is VERY often caused by a biomechanical flaw, the way your foot hits the ground etc. (it may be alleviated my custom orthotics).
Anyway, point is shin splints is the nightmare

stop running. I know that's not what you want to hear, but unless you want a stress fracture stop for a couple of weeks. at least don't run as much. Get better shoes, and no extra tricking sesssions during track. rest your shins.

Rest. Since you're in track, talk to your coach and see if you can get easier workouts for a few weeks, because you will likely have to keep training for the team.

Stretch your lower legs vigorously before and after every practice, with dynamic stretches prior to the workout, and extended static stretching afterwards.

Perform reverse calf raises or some sort of equivilent exercise. Loading should be fairly light for extended sets, 20+ reps perhaps. If you don't have access to any weights to do these with, you can perform this exercise:

Sit on the floor with your legs extended in front of you, toes up. Have a friend grab your toes and then try to pull them away from you. Pull your toes back towards you. Hold this for 6-10 seconds and repeat at least 3 times, with more sets being preferable.

Edit: After your stretching, ice your whole shin for 5-10 minutes. If you can, get a bucket, fill it with ice, and put your foot and lower leg in for 5 minutes.

If you'd like you could also take some type of anti-inflammatory.

Strap your entire shin, either that or you can buy special brace things for shin splints at a pharmacy.

I bet swimming would really help.
