Ok, I know your probably sick of hearing side-split problems and all, but heres one more that maybe you guys can help with.
Ok, so I've been trying to get my side splits for a while now and i'm down to the last 6 inches. The problem comes in that, when I get to that point I dont feel a stretch anymore and it feels as if its a bone on bone thing. It hurts a bit, but nothing too bad.
Is there any reason as to why this happens or anything I can do to remedy it?

Its probably the same problem i have, and many others. It has to do with the orientation of your hips. I don't know much but essentially thats as far as your muscles let you, then your hips say no more. If i have it right there is nothing that can be done.
1. do you also feel no stretch when you bend to the side/each leg with your upper body?
2. do you have the same problem with bent knee splits?
3. I have a similar problem, but at a much earlier stage. About 30cm from the ground, my hips start to feel uncomfortable just as you described. I could go on and rip it open, but that hurts - even if I tilt the pelvis forward really hard, it still can hurt to do this. Therefore I do wide hip rotations before the side splits where they usually "crack out of their sockets" without any discomfort. Also front splits can do the job for me for a while now.
just tilt your pelvis forward very much, or try to rotate your feet/knees backward. i mean dont let them point forward, let them point more to the ceiling.
the bones should go out of the way

1. Only a slight stretch occurs, nothing substantial.
2. Yup.
3. I can give that a try. I have almost complete front splits. Those are no big deal.

hey that happens to me i can do front splits liek no problem but its like my hips just wont let me do side splits they often get stuck in the joint and i often i have to pop them out of the joint hwere i hear a loud crack sound which is nasty and then it feels a lot looser i am guessin i must hav a genetic obnormality of the hip that prevents my from going past a certain range of motion cos all my other muscles are gettin much more flexible but nothin helps my hips what can i do

personally i recommend some isometric ownage :good:
that's if you're sure your hip position is correct.
