I'm a rower and rowing takes extremely high levels of endurance. Not as in a slow steady state for a long time but maximum performance for as long as possible. Most of the power in sweep rowing has to come from the legs and I have the world qualifiers coming up in early February. I've been following my coaches training program but it seems a bit lacking.

What would be a good program to increase maximum performance¿

Follow your coach's training program. He's the coach for a reason. If you feel that the program you've been given is not effective or individualized towards your needs, speak with him.

If your coach is the one who's gotten you to this level, he either knows his stuff or you are a genetic freak. If either is true, you're set with what you're doing now.

What does he have you doing? Just out of curiosity.

Well she has me doing speed work on the ergometer twice a week. And two cardio sessions a week and two weight based workouts (mostly legs and back) every week. Everyday but the two days for speed work are supplemented with extra erg work. She says that all of the erging at just under anaerobic threshold will help my body to rid itself of lactic acid more efficiently.

My assistant coach handles all of the workouts..coach just sets up the competitions and travel and other things of that nature.

If you show me the ways of branleh I will blindly follow them as well.

But...outside of rowing what sort of reps and sets and percentage of rep max would help maximize high level endurance?

Seeing as no one here has ever coached an athlete going to world qualifiers in any sport, or even nationals, heck, probably not even states/provincial(except for Antoine who "coached" himself), I don't think we're the best source for workout advice.

Well many people in here know how to make gains in different areas of fitness and I was just looking for gains in high level endurance in the legs.

Well many people in here know how to make gains in different areas of fitness and I was just looking for gains in high level endurance in the legs.

Your coaches also happen to know a great deal about this type of thing. And their knowledge comes from direct experience with rowers. And, if they've gotten you to a world qualifier level, I doubt any of the internet experts here can help you.

I'm one of the people you're describing, but I have no applicable experience in this area, nor does anyone else here as far as I know. Like I said, no one here has ever coached an athlete to anywhere near the level you say you'll be competing. Most people have never coached an athlete.

I could make up a program for you. Compleks or chicanerous, or any number of other members could make up a program for you. But everyone here is working towards goals that have very little to do with yours, especially in terms of conditioning.
Half the people here want to improve tricks, which is purely anaerobic, 100% explosive and requires almost no endurance(at least of the type you're looking for). The other half is about split between bodybuilding and martial arts training, with a few people with various other goals.
Now even though they're split up, almost everyone here, regardless of how much they deny it, wants to look better. This involves losing fat(which unless you're extremely overweight, which I doubt being at the level you are, will not benefit your performance overmuch), and building muscle in areas selected solely for aesthetic reasons, which has no carryover to rowing, unless you get scored on attractiveness.

Beyond all of this, everyone here has experience with only one person(with a few exceptions, I think some are PTs), himself. And those few who are PTs have not coached anyone at your level.

I don't know how else to tell you, but there is no one here who will be able to help you.

Then ask us for help tricking, something that people on this board are experienced with, and that you're not going to worlds in.
