View Full Version : whey instructions
My packet tells me to add 40g to 300ml of milk twice a day.
does this mean i have to take two lots of 300 of this every day or take the 300 in two 150 dosages. Could someone explain this?

There are 100000 different ways of taking whey depending upon your workout and what you are trying to achieve.

Quoted a quote of a quote for impact and truth OH YEAH!!! Triple quote score 500 points!!!!
I think I will stick to 300ml a day then bump it up later on to give my body a shock.

how often are you training?
what are you trying to achieve?
if you just take x whey x ammount of times randomly then you could see no gains or get fat.
150 in the morning and 150 in the evening. I am going for slight gain in muscle mass but mainly improved jump power.
Training once a day lightly and 4 times a week heavily.

Besides the obvious already mentioned, your instructions are bullshit if they're only suggesting milk and not something more along the lines or milk, whey, or whatever else.
Also, don't take it with milk, at least not mostly. Water works just fine, it's more readily available, etc. If you're a wuss about taste (and it's not bad with water for that matter unless your whey tastes really shitty for some reason) then you just plain suck.
well it doesn't say with milk just any liquid.
What brand of whey is this? Also, you're probably wasting your time taking it if the level of knowledge you're expressing in this thread is anything to go by.

lobo has a very good point.
I am just wondering whether i should take more. There are 8-9 paragraphs on the box of instructions just that one sentance isn't very clear.
So should i take more?
(by the way i am 10 stone [for wieght refrences] and i excersise heavily 4 times a week. and do cardio every day.)
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR DOSAGE IF YOU GET IT WRONG YOU MIGHT END UP IN THE HOSPITAL!!!
Yeah that shit can cause blindness.
Just whey?? Its not difficult, throw a couple of spoonfuls in some water and shake it around.
Or add whatever else to it, fruit, pumpkin!, steak doesn't matter.

GOOD JOB.
Consume all the whey in one setting, choke on it and die.
when i said milk i was just giving an example.

You consume it with water if you want the protein to get to your muscles fast and you take it with milk if you want it to slowly go into your system over 5 hours or so.
I find what works best for the training I do and the gains that I want to achieve is to take one scoop in water after training and one in milk before I go to bed. I also find if you take whey with milk before you go to bed you don't ache as much in the morning.

if you knew what you were doing with your whey you would be able to know how much you needed per day just from the grams of protein it says it has etc

Hold on, is milk actually bad as a whey mixture for a post-workout shake? I mean I realize that the milk takes a long time to digest, but wouldn't the whey come out of solution in your stomach and digest just as fast as if it were in water?
I'm not happy because I really like milk, and whey mixed with water just tastes awful. It's like watered-down poop. With milk it's like slightly granular explosion of flavor. mmmm.
I only take it with semi-skinned milk or use it in my oatmeal. If you put the powder on your penis it can even make it grow bigger. WHEY is amazing!

Milk has protein also, and therefore protein receptors will take up milk proteins, possibly ignoring the whey. It's actually no big deal, and you'll probably never notice a difference in your entire life.

um, well then why is everybody worrying about isolate vs. concentrate vs. hydrolate, time period of meals, all this stuff.
in this case I guess I should not waste money on whey and just drink another glass of milk or two for my post-workout "shake."

nope.
is water preferable?
What about the 1 hour post-workout drink? milk?
although I usually just have 1 drink anyway.
Reading through the t-nation thing it seems like the ideal setup is:
BCAA + lucein or whatever pre-workout (according to juji really), plus protein?
a 1 hour post-workout shake with fast-acting protein (whey)
a protein heavy dinner (although I guess lunch or breakfast if you workout early). Of course, I'm pretty sure the ideal eating setup is a medium breakfast, a big lunch, and light dinner. OR maybe REALLY ideally is like 15 meals like Juji, but, maybe I'll get to that later. Wouldn't a "light" dinner work against protein loading?
and then something before bed, i.e. shake but with longer-term protein (soy?)
However, doesn't eating conflict with sleep? isn't proper sleep more important than screwing around with "this shake at that time?" I mean, you've gotta recover and stuff.

Holy hell you fit alot of different questions into a relatively small space there  .
I can't state what's best for you but regarding the eating habits:
I normally eat a fairly heavy breakfast (oatmeal, several slices of random rough bread.) a heavy lunch and then during dinner it really depends if I have been getting the macronutrients I need for the day.
The reason I do this is simply to survive through the day, you can't expect to eat a fairly light breakfast and then have energy to survive at school, work or wherever.
I usually add my protein to my daily shakes consisting of yoghurt, banana, blueberries, strawberries, apple juice and a horrid multivitamin/nutrient sip.
I keep one serving as a post-workout and the second one is consumed earlier on in the day.

Water is preferable by most people, generally- unless your'e using whey as a meal replacement shake.
I never fooled around with BCAA's or leucine, so someone else can take that.
The 1 hour PWO shake usually contains simple carbs (dextrose/maltodexterin) and whey- usually for the best digestion, hydrolysed (I think, someone correct me if i'm wrong)
If your dinner is right after your PWO shake, then you want to have a protein heavy meal.
Try to eat more than three times a day. I haven't read the thread that much so I dont know your goals. If youre only eating three meal, make sure youre getting enough calories.
Skip the soy, and use a slow digesting protein (casein) or some fat sources.
Try it, if it conflicts with sleep then re-arrange your diet. I know I cant sleep on an empty stomach.
