Less than a month ago, I went running and came back with a pretty bad knee. The tendon below and slightly on the left of my left knee cap essentially couldn't take a lot of shock. I rested it for a couple of weeks and I thought it was gone. But going out last night for New Year's Eve, I walked around a lot, and my knee started hurting again.

Did I do something wrong in the healing process of my previous injury, or is that tendon just not very strong?

If the former, what am I supposed to do when faced with a knee injury, and if latter, what exercises can I do to strengthen this tendon?

Kinda sounds like you have petellar tendonitus. I have it too!!! hurts like a bitch huh? Theres nothing you can really do about it but physical therapy. For the physical therapy part your guess is as good as mine. My doctor wasnt clear on it.

Sounds kinda like what I have, MUST BE THE SAME THING!

We can't diagnose over the internet. Go find a good physical therapist in your area.

It's a common tricking injury now. Juji should update his injury section because of it in fact.

Sounds remarkably like Patella Tendonitis. google it.

You're not alone, many members here have suffered or are suffering from it :ogre:

hrm...some excercies you can do is leg extensions and so forth..abduction and adduction using an elastic type band wrapped around your ankle and a stable post. this will help build up your muscles around the knee as well as strengthen your tendon. dont work it too hard tho, or else it will become inflamed again. other than that, RICE that bitch. rest, ice, compression, and elevation. if its still bothering you in a couple months. perhaps start considering scheduling an MRI to check on the structure?

Aaahhh that sound awful familiar of what I'm having, I have that like a month ago, it hurts like a bitch on the right side of my knee, it stop within a week but still whenever I do 5 or 6 540's I have that sudden aching and pain right below my kneecap. But at least my ankle is healing up YAY n_n
