seattle.
seattle.
seattle.
seattle.

(4 times cause i make the decision of 4 ppl here that will be coming down to one of them)

mr.pierce also votes seattle. mr.pierce also votes on behalf of his brother also, for seattle.
rizznigga also votes seattle cause i chose seattle.
and since its a reunion for the seattle ppl, dogen also votes seattle.

so thats like 4+4=12 seattle votes.

Gnome

I vote Portland, solely because I know lots of people who live there and can probably host places for people to stay. Otherwise I dont care, both work for me.

Even if there was a gathering held in Seattle we can make a trip down to Portland. Its less then 3 hours away.

I dont vote Seattle. I dont even really care. I much, much prefer the gym down here to the ones up there though...so Portland as far as having a place to trick.
Doesnt matter to me, I go back to Seattle whenever I want anyways (my parents live there)...we (nathan and I) might be able to host a couple people there. Doesnt matter though.
As long as it isnt in late march-ish. =]

Why do you get the final say? Are you going to house people in Seattle?

I really think Larry, Dogen, Nathan, Nick and I need to talk about it.

bradtrickerq
Jan-04-07, 03:37 PM
Hey, come on. I think I have a right to choose as well. Seeing how I live in the seattle area as well.

Yeah and is Reza running the gathering?
I agree with Jon, but we may need to wait to see if there are anymore votes.

bradtrickerq
Jan-04-07, 03:41 PM
so the count so far is (not counting steve's vote)
4 seattle and 1 portland
Reza's count of votes was messed up.

Time and main meeting location is still undecided

bradtrickerq
Jan-04-07, 07:38 PM
Well it may be in the spring or it might just wait until summer, the further the way it is in time, the more people know about it to come.
Mostly we got to get some way to advertise

Reza
Jan-04-07, 09:35 PM
chill guys i was jus playin around.

either way im bringing 3 ppl with me; so it wont matter to us wether its in seattle or portland. we just prefer seattle cause its a shorter trip for us.

Jan-04-07, 09:47 PM
portland, otherwise i probably wont be able to attend much/anything. damn work.

Reza
Jan-04-07, 10:11 PM
why not have one in both on seperate days so that ppl that would like to make it to both can come.

Gnome
Jan-05-07, 02:09 AM
Then set up 2 different gatherings. I don't think a vote is really necessary. Everyone has said they will pretty much go to either. Someone find a gym, get pricing and lets get this thing going.

Couldnt you request a couple days off? Maybe request a 4-day weekend? Im sure, since you havnt missed really anydays they would have no problem with it as long as you did it in advance?

But yeah, I dont care where it is.

Jan-05-07, 03:47 PM

besides if we just have one instead of two, we would have more people. A gym would be nice and fun, but I don't realy care if we go to a gym. I'd rather we show off in the streets and WOW people, while getting this sport more popular, more well known and bring in more trickers.

Well.. we've been trying to make plans for a long time now. We all just have major conflicts in scheduling..major ones. ie: The only time one of us has out of school longer than a day, which is a couple weeks, is the couple weeks another of us has exams. etc etc

...on a more serious note, Portland isnt too far away. Maybe seattle folks could all hop a greyhound or the train. I have some vague memory of taking the train down to portland. And it was all cheap and good.

or heck, id love to go up to Canada. Vancouver esp. Richmond's cool too.

ahh shit sorry. didnt mean to cause so much fuss over my name.

Who am I? well if you know Seattle and the Bellevue area at all, I live in factoria/eastgate neighborhood. offa I-90. I have been doing wushu for 4 years at the Chinese Wushu & Taichi academy and I used to TA the kids class....however the school has closed down and now idk what im going to do. there's a sister school but I've also always wanted to box or something.

The train idea, well, trains are cool and you can just hop and not have any hassel. PLus, i dont personnally know any seattle area trickers, so i didnt think about carpooling.

Bubba,
Sorry, I didnt mean to be an imposter. I hope that youre not too upset.

Who the hell would rather trick on the concrete then a gym, other then parkour people.
There are still gyms in seattle, just not nearly as nice as the one down here.

Also Dogen and Larry...and of course Nathan need to come down and trick anyways.

Ok, well its looking like Seattle won out. So lets find a gym? dbubba, I remember the stuff you posted and I contacted both before christmas break. One of them said 'fuck no' it was too much of a liability issue, then they sent me an email back wanting more details. The other place, with the circus stuff, they were just closed. So if someone wants to contact them and see whats up.

Jon P
Jan-10-07, 08:27 AM
does portland have any place like the mat room in UW?

Well, not really haha. We might be able to break into the wrestling room at the high school...but doubt it.
How about like a couple days in Seattle and then one night in portland? Since open gym in portland is on Sundays? That would be like a 3-4 night gathering. Portland is only a couple hours from Seattle anyways. We could do like gym here on sunday evening and then ride the subway / MAX train into downtown portland and have dinner or something that night and drive back up to seattle monday when we all get up...
That was the longest run-on sentence I have ever seen, sorry haha.

well a gathering can be used for training, but it's more as a time to perform, have fun and show off.

I'd at least like one whole day in the streets/grass. You know, like free running.

I saw a seven year old the other day doing a flash kick on t.v. during martial arts contest. crazy

Well, Im sure we're going to be hanging out somewhere at some point. But I dont want to be forced out there and have a day where Im forced to have to trick in poor conditions. If we were out and just turned into that, then whatever. Either way, Im less concerned about the tricks, I dont want to go to "show off" by any means.

But, I'd be up for Jon's idea, but that only makes it harder for some of us Canadians to get down for the full thing

There is no universal spring break

It snowed a little bit, and its really cold from what I hear. But I'm at college right now, down in Klamath Falls, OR. So I'm just going on what my g/f told me. But ya, they didn't get school cancelled or anything.

I have a gang of newb trickers in Issaquah, Washington. We go to Gymnastics East in Preston (30mins from Seattle). I think it is 6 dollars an hour to use their whole place, large spring floor and the equipment. They also rent it out for parties and blast music.

Well let me put it this way. That is the most information we've got towards a gathering. Its got pricing and time info as well as the gym can be rented out. I'm just saying no one else has contributed shit as far as actual plans could be. So that sounded like a better deal than "well we can go to seattle and trick.... thats as much as I've thought out."

hey man.

Anyone else want to trick in the street/grass?

I think it makes it cooler. More dangerous and you just feel more free. Parkour is what got me into tricking with a program on t.v. about freerunning. It sounded cool, but tricking is even more than that.

grass, yes, anything hard, no. you just started it sounds like, so you may not know this, but tricking on anything harder than grass, or even grass in most cases, means completly destoyed joints and back.

concrete tricking is for dumbasses that want to show off (i do this more than i should lol), not for people that want to train and get better.

Those guys are there every sunday. Whenever I pass through I'm going, they are hella good and have a lot to teach if you need help. Definately need to have a gathering there, the gym is so sweet.

I live in Vancouver and still have yet to go there. Sad. Very sad.

You say there are guys there who trick every Sunday? Mayhaps I will have to get myself down there. I could always use the help.

Fucking sweet! As for pricing, on their website they have it. If we can get 20 people to go, its about $20 per person, totally around $400? So lets start figuring out who will attend so we can get prices and then lodging.

I'm in.
