I keep trying to get the message out but many keep ignoring it.
Obviously YouTube has grown in popularity. For the most part I dislike it but I won't deny it has a few advantages. A quick stream, fast watch but it lacks the original quality and the option to save easily (without going through a bunch of stupid steps).
I have no problem with people using it. A lot of people have problems viewing/downloading videos here sometimes and ask for a youtube link. It's a good quick solution if you don't like to save your vids or whatever, but many of us collect samplers, including myself for a long time. Even if you don't save every video (I don't, much that comes out I don't bother watching again), there's still plenty out there we like to save so in the case you have a video that someone really wants to keep, something better, PLEASE...
POST A DOWNLOADABLE LINK AS WELL.
I always request this myself unless the youtube link given is too crappy for me to want to watch again. At least half the time though it's something I'll want to save, so do yourself and everyone else a favor. Post an alternate link alongside your youtube link.
What do you have to gain you ask? More viewing. Someone has it saved they're more likely to watch it more and so many people can't stand youtube, they won't even bother watching it. YouTube is just discouraging by itself a lot of the time. Offer more options and you'll get more feedback and viewing.
That's all there is to it. There's NO reason NOT to. It isn't even hard. There are A LOT of sites out there that host videos. There have been an abundance of threads out there with links if you're unfamiliar with them. Just look around, run a search, whatever.
I hope people start to make this a habit. I think most do it because they're too lazy to upload something to more than one location. It doesn't take much time, it's not like you can upload huge videos to Youtube anyways, so it wouldn't take long to put the same thing up on an alternate site.
Note: This whole thing is in regards mainly to samplers. Short/small little random clips aren't as big a deal. I wouldn't expect people that post those kind of things frequently to do this, and so if I really want it saved I'll request those individually. The common everyday sampler though...that's different.
No more "exclusively youtube" links please. It's killing me :agony: and probably countless others on this forum. I just felt I had to get a bigger message out by creating a thread on this, rather than replying to every thread with the same message.
