i love flash kicks. straight, jstep, and reverse gainer flashes, roundoff flashes, flash fulls (a lot more than full flashes; thank you dave c), and whatever other lovely variation.

and before i went to basic training, i actually had a decent standing flash... but now i dont. and even before the army, i only landed like four rev gainer flashes ever.

my problem has always been getting my knee to straighten out, which i find kind of odd, considering i dont lack flexibility. i cant do the splits, but im not so far from them without stretching, either. bah.

anyway. haha. why cant i straighten my knee? :eh: its really getting pretty gay.

thats a comparison. three old, two new. the second one is my favorite in terms of technique and whatever. the last two are my "current" attempts.

Well I always had bent shit with flashes when I attempted them by bringing the knee up chambered and kicking out. If you really try to swing the end of your foot around, rather than at the knee I imagine that'd help.

I landed another flashkick today buddy. Hadn't tricked in so long but it was an awesome session, get on AIM sometime later this week or Sunday cause tomorrow I got a group session going today and I'm gonna film some shiz.

YESS !! i have this exact problem, and it comes across in my corks too, it makes me lead entirely with my knee, which loses loads of height :(

When do you kick in your flash? Immediately after takeoff, or no?

When I flash kick I keep my kicking leg extended more or less the entire time. I don't chamber my flashes at all. I like arched flashes so on takeoff I arch my back and then pull my leg through. It actually feels like I've left my leg behind and I need to pull it to finish the kick.

the first three flashes are how mine used to be, before basic training. the second one is my favorite, in terms of style and such. the second to last is how my flashes look now (if i even land them) and the last is how my rev gainer flashes always have been.

help?

Untuck your left leg and just let it drag behind. That should add a lot more definition to your kick. Aside from that, just work on kicking harder.
