My video camera does not have a firewire port but my laptop does. I was wondering if ne one knows if there is maybe a video jack that could plug into my video camera with the other end being converted to firewire to plug into my laptop? im guessing no and that im prolly going to be laughed at a lot, but if not please post some other options if you think of any.

stuff like that doesnt exist. its like trying to convert a low quality file into one of higher quality by compressing it further. your best bet is to get an analog video capturing device like a video capture card.

Haha just get a better camera. Is it an old analogue cam? If so then getting a tv card with scart input is the easiest option.

yea i was thinking of just getting a capture card, but i am pretty sure i cant put on in my laptop. ill prolly jus buy a new camera
If you're a student, you can also see if your school has analog capturing hardware and use their system to convert to digital format. Then burn it to a CD and throw it in your laptop.
I have an analog camera too, but I have a dvr recorder that has analog inputs.

do you have a video recorder for your tv? if so then you could record it to dvd using that and then rip the video off of the dvd onto your hard drive.
