Okay, i have finally attempted to do a moonkick.
Please don't mind the gay little walk, because i've changed it already with the help from tatsumaru  (J-step walking and such).

I didn't really use my arms very well, i'm aware of that but is there anything else that needs adjustment?
I've done some with good useage of the arms+kicking leg and i've landed it on the mat but i kept losing my balance and fell.

Ah well, here's the video :wicked:

Thanks guys!
PS: I only want constructive critism please.

I think you'd do alot better on harder surface, I think that that mat makes you'r jump alot lower than it would be on hard ground.

ow sorry i did not saw it :p (about the J-Step)

the key for a good moonkick is kicking your leg hard up and NOT bend

Don't run forward too much. But you should really post a video of your supposedly "changed" moonkick because all we're doing now is giving advice on an out-of-date vid.

Your probably right but i can only get a newer up to date video next week since the gym will be rented again.
The moonkick in this video is almost the same as the ones i do now, but my J-step is a little bit different.
My setup has 2 steps and a swing now.

Now it's like this:

You should get the idea of that

man, u can do what you want out of it... u r trying to get the move right ?? bend u r leg if u want... for now then str8en it as u see fit.

as for advice, doing it on a harder surface would help, think of it in two parts, just refering to the legs portion.... throw you leg as high as it can go flexibility will allow, than push off u r back leg. most moves have some sort of pause in it. so find it and go from there !! keep it up dude !!

That's something really usefull to me.
I will try and use that pause next time!
But i've tried it on hard surface, it's f-in scary, any tips on that?

I can. Mostly because all the people in who posted in this thread before gave CRAP ADVICE. Well ok no they didn't, but they didn't address the problem, which is quite obvious.

Ok, you can try it on a hard floor if you want, but you should have been able to do it on that mat anyways.

The problem is you stop rotating your upper body once you jump. Your face keeps looking forwards and your arms stop moving.
You need to pull your arms all the way back. And when you jump, you need to arch back and look back. That way you can easily get your body in position and see the landing.

So remember:
Your takeoff > Jump > SWING ARMS UPPPPP > LOOK BACK > ARCH BACK > Finito!

That's a strait gainer flash, you have the right idea but when you do your moonkick swing your leg up and then once your in the air, look at the ground to your right, that'll make it slanted and it's also alot easier because you can spot your landing so early.

Thanks alot!
I will do this the coming sunday
I'll make sure it gets recorded, and i will post a newer up-to-date video then.

So actually a moonkick is this right?
Take a J-step takeoff> block with your non kicking leg > Swing up the kicking leg towards the opposite shoulder (im a leftie so my kick will be towards my right shoulder) > GO as far as my flexability allows > jump >swing the arms up with a powerfull force (comes from shoulders? ) > look back > arch back > spot landing and land.

That should be pretty ok ,right?

dont forget about your arms, you do throw them bak in the vid but you cut them short so your losing upwards momentum i.e. HEIGHT. You need to swing yout arms up as hard as you can!!!

Skilzat adressed mostly everything.
The one thing i see that is wrong besides that is,
i looked at ur moonkick in slomo. U need to get ur kicking leg HIGHER
before kicking off the last leg. this will save alot of rotation.
get that first leg alot higher before pushing off with the other.
other then that u will get it soon ! :good:

That wasn't a Moon Kick...a Moon Kick is a Gainer in which you trun your hips outward (away from the leg that's swinging up), and hook/wheel kicking behind you. The kick should be focused up above you while your head is directly under your hips. Though it is kicked like a hook kick, the body orientation of the trick makes the kick come down like an axe kick.

When you kick into the Moon Kick your head should be positioned so that your line of sight is perpindicular to the direction your leg is kicking. As you flip upsidedown, you chamber the hook/wheel kick...and once your head is under you hips, you release the kick while keeping eye contact with the ground. If done correctly, the force of the kick should bring you upright once you land on the ground...

Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU7PxNluNyA) is a vid that has a pretty decent Moon Kick in it! It occurs several times throughout the vid, but the one I'm detailing is at 0:57. It's the trick he uses on the second guy...that's a Moon Kick

From this angle, you can see that he's actually hook kicking because of the way his kicking leg rechambers...

Haha I'm glad you're posting these moonkick versus gainerflash messages in all these threads sessh, when it can be a bit tiresome but it seems recently people are just accepting a moonkick as a piss poor gainerflash when it involves more than a slant, and actual small bit of rotation and a kick with the non-leading leg.
