Right, well here's part of the write up that I made on another site I've cut some of the irrelevant bits out, hopefully this'll all make sense to you and so on.
Look at this trick for example, a simple Flashkick.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l254/Workerz/flash4tone.gif
Now the physics of this trick are pretty bloody simple, why am I able to land this trick? Well, I jump off my feet spin backwards until I'm upside down and then I keep spinning until my FEET ARE POINTING TOWARDS THE GROUND AGAIN, if I don't spin far enough while I'm in the air I won't land because I won't be back to my feet, simple haha.
Now a cork is obviously a little less simple than that because it's a twist not a flip, but we still need to flip that twist! Why?
Well...in a cork there is a specification that you must be horizontal during the twist....but you take off standing up....and you want to land standing up...hrmmm how the hell can I meet all of these requirements, well I can't be vertical and stay vertical to land because then it won't be a cork...ah...maybe I can rotate backwards to become horizontal and keep rotating to get back to my feet! (And I don't want any smartarses to say you could lean back horizontal and then rotate back the other way to land)
Ok so basically you've gotta flip a litte. I'll show you some examples so you can see why and what I'm talking about.
Here's an old Cork Attempt by Carney.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l254/Workerz/crash4tonegif2.gif
Here's Skilzatz99's (Whatever the hell his screen name is) Corkscrew
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l254/Workerz/Cork21.gif
Now Carney could never work out why he couldn't land that cork, it's high, his body is nice and strait it's clean, his spin is fast, why the fuck can't he land it?
I'll tell you, his body doesn't follow the flip motion, take a look at the .gif, his body is horizontal the whole time, how's he supposed to land standing up if he isn't upright again when it's time to land.
Now Look at the second .gif, this is a very inverted cork, most corks aren't this inverted but it's a good example, see how he has to do almost nothing to land, the flip takes it's course, his feet come back round toward the ground ready for him to fall on them!
Edit: Yeah so, there you go man, maybe you can see how this applies to your cork because your head never goes below your feet, like in Carneys attempt that I've put here.
Thought I better stick my cork here too, it's nothing special I'm not that great at corks yet but just to show you that I follow those principals as well, alot of this write up I built from something that my friend Julian (Jwizzman) showed me and he has a very good cork so maybe he will post with some help.

I had the same proplem as you...My j-step was lacking and I always kicked up with my knee. I then just changed my set up from a j-step to a spinny kind of set up. It helped my kick the leg up straight up. Also stall like a bitch. That was another big problem that I had in landing it. I probably should go about learning it from a j-step for some versatility.
It went from this...

Well I'm glad you sorted that out. I will be throwing doubles by next week
thanks workerz and mcjizzle. I've tried the funny step thing and I always end up b-twisting and kinda cheating it, hence the j step set up. plus, i figured if I want to build on the move, then j step is the way forward.

Ya, I've edited my original post a bit now, just in case you didn't notice. :good:
Oh yeah and one last lil thing make sure you put heaps of power into your jstep, get momentum and swing your leg up as hard as you fucking can!
If you've got a good moonkick...You can cork. Basically I do my corks moonkick gyro/twist style. So yeah, hopefully incorporate that into your corks as well.

Dang that's one thing I do need to work on, swing my leg up strait, your cork is far prettier than mine, it's strange I swing my leg up nice and strait in my gainers but it just doesn't happen in my corks haha, need to practice.

@Workerz - Excellent post! I understand the motion of the cork much better now.
My chances of landing this went from 15% tot 45% now! I think...

cork = gainerslant + twist. you're not doing the first part. if you can't gainerslant, dont do cork yet. if you can, then do a gainerslant, THEN spin. you want to start flipping before you start spinning.
also, kick with your leg/foot and use your arms alot. thats how you get height.

I'm not sure that's the case. I don't want to invert, and a lot of excellent tricksters don't invert. It's like a table top cork, or a flat spin cork. Anis does slant gainer fulls, matt emig does flat corks. Basically I want it to look like a btwist (completely flat). I think boxcutters look great from this cork.
Mcjizzle is flat corking, and that's what I want. I know you can do it from a jstep setup too.
I've tried gainer fulls, and I land on my knees, and it doesn't feel right if you know what I mean..? It doesn't feel like a cork, it feels like a gainer full. I know that there is a massive dispute about this, and I don't want to go into it really, I just want a flat spin cork

for an old skool cork you have to do it from the spin hop setup prety muhc, like mcjizzles
