Here's my raiz after a couple of tries. I was practicing sideswipes and decided to go for it. Any tips on how to invert more and on the technique in general?

Arch and pull. Think of it like a flash kick sorta....or like a gainer. Mine's not really inverted but I'm tryna get it. I hope that helps.

BTW you're advancing rather QUICKLY. Kudos man. I love seeing your new GIF's. I'm really liking the cart-full, and the 360-cork. ESPECIALLY the cork. Looks real good man, keep it up!

.....uh no, im not retarded. this move comes from capoeira. the word raiz is pronounced "hi-eeez". in portugese, when r is the first letter of a word it takes on a soft "h" sound. its not at all pronouced like he was saying it.. "raise" as in, "i got a raise at my job."

It can be pronounced a number of different ways. I personally pronounce it "rise" as opposed to "raise." Also, if I am correct, a raiz in capoeira is different than a raiz in tricking.

there's no difference between a raiz in capoeira and one in tricking. i dont mean to turn this into a language debate. yours looks very good for only a few tries, if you take the tips in the tut you'll have it inverted in no time.

Don't be stupid...Raiz is a technique from Capoeira, the Brazilian practitioners who pioneered it's movement spoke Portuguese. This means that the techniques are spoken with a Portuguese accent, which means that the "R" in Raiz, would actually make an "H" sound!

So "Hai-iz" it is!!! We just say it like "Raise", because most of us are dissrespectful assholes who don't care about preserving history...

It's exactly the same...and if it were slightly different, it still wouldn't give us the "right" to change it's pronounciation. It's technique is clearly taken from Capoeira...

Alright, I guess I was mixed up about the differences between capoeira and tricking. Sorry about that .
