Is a moonkick the same thing as a flash kick except kinda off to the side? Also, is it possible to moonkick without the J step thinger? I'm sorry for the noob question.:dead:

No no no.
Moonkick is a gainer flash where you turn your body midway and finish the flip with a dropping kick, kinda like an axe kick or whatever.
People are just calling shitty gainer flashes (slant gainers) moonkicks now and too many dumb people are accepting it haha.
A flashkick is just any backflip that involves the spread of your legs, where one leg is kicking and the other drags behind.
A moonkick then is similar to a gainer flash (not the same though) and a gainer flash is also a gainer flashKICK.
In order of simplicity from simplest to more complex:
Backflip
Flashkick
Gainer Flash
Moonkick (more like a variation of the gainer flash)
J-step is one takeoff of many. You could do the flip going straight forward, with a reverse hop step takeoff, etc.
Basically to summarize:
Answer to your first question: NO.
Answer to your second question: YES.
