i go to the frisco gym out hurr....it not like THE BEST but its real good. and there two more gyms right down da street. and open gym is free cuz im cool wit da poeple thurr.

There really arn't any good gyms, almost all of them have age restrictions (because of pedophiles and what not).

Also, I don't train at a gym. look for team eclypse on myspace and message them about a session or something?

I'm down for a DFW trick night. I'm tired of training be myself. There is a gym in Mesquite that allows people over 18 to train, and one of the instructors is actually a trickster as well. Saturdays from 1-3 and usually if the guy is there he leaves it open for a little while longer.

There really arn't any good gyms, almost all of them have age restrictions (because of pedophiles and what not).

Actually, it's insurance. 95% of gymnastic gyms won't allow people over the age of 17 due to no insurance coverage on 18+. Yes, this insurance can be purchased, but very very very few gyms invest the money in this option due to the obvious lack of adult tumblers. It really is a shame, and hopefully the growing tricking community can remedy this small hurdle.

As for tricking at Jay Rock's Gym in Mesquite, I'm down for that...if I'm not working at that time...which is rare. ) :

Seeing how we're on the subject of gyms, has anyone checked the new WOGA off Preston in Frisco? As it is new, maybe we can sweet talk our way into being allowed in their open gym sessions. Also, an idea I've been meaning to look into is YMCA and large fitness centers. I need to call'em to find out if they happen to have a room or rooms with padded flooring, and maybe crash pads for possible gymnastic programs *is hopeful*.

Does Jay's Rock Gym let trickers go? I've never heard of them. I just to to the one of 80 and Franklin. It's near ASI (but ASI won't let us train), and the grayhound bus station. It's kinda hidden so ill give directions if needed

Oh, for anyone in the DFW area and north, there is a gym called "The Colony Gymnastics" at Paige and South Colony in...The Colony, of course...that has open gym every other Saturday (usually). The upcoming open gym sessions are on 7-12-08 and 7-26-08. I am hoping to attend both. It goes from 7-10pm, $25, and they feed you pizza. Far fewer children there than you'll find at any ASI. This place has spring floor, pit, tramp track, tramps, tumbling track, and all. One thing to note about the spring floor is it's carpet covered. Feels awesome! ( :

The place is apparently called Texas Gymnastics Training Center in Mesquite. I do not know if I found the correct place, but the one matching that name I found to be basically at the intersection of 635 and I-80, on I-80's service road west bound, but east of 635, if you can make a mental map in your head. I, myself, will be heading south on 75, hop on to 635 towards I-80, hop onto I-80 east bound, do a u-turn at the next possible chance, and begin heading west bound on the service road. It should be there before I hit 635, again.

I'll have to give him a call sometime. NEways, Evo says he knows a place in Frisco called Extreme Cheer that has open gym on Fridays, you already know about The Colony Gymnastics in...The Colony, and they have open gym every other Saturday. Jay Rocks Gym is somewhere in Dallas (I haven't been there yet) and they, too, have open gym on either Fri or Sat, but I'm not familiar with that gym, so I can't say which day for sure.

Oh right. I forgot Adam was going on vaca. Well, Frisco is a Friday, and Colony is a Saturday, the 23rd of August ought to be the next Colony open gym, if they haven't changed their schedule. The 6th and 20th of Sept would be the other open gym sessions at Colony, as well. Easy to work around that.

Check TT before you leave, as it is possible for the gym to be occupied by an event or birthday party as it was last week. If I hear word of this, I'll post that the gym is a "no go."

Yea, it is typically every Friday starting around 5pm and going on until whenever the coaches decide they want to leave. I've had 1hr sessions up to 5 hour sessions there. Must be 18+ with ID to attend, or if you're under 18, must have a parent/guardian sign you in. Pretty simple.

I know it was discussed in this thread earlier but just to let you guys know I spoke to Jay from Jay Rocks Gym in Dallas. He said that around May sometime the number of kids will be lowered quite a bit so it would make for a good chance to go and trick.

It's $15 bucks a person on Saturdays 1-3pm. He didn't have a problem with people coming in but he said that if we were to go right now we would be landing on kids left and right.

Is anyone still interested in going there sometime in the not too distant future?
Anyway just giving you the heads up if anyone is still interested.

I was wondering if anybody might be interested in a simple grass session sometime, just work on the less dangerous tricks or something. Could meet up at some park in Dallas, or where ever's most convenient.

Im Actually not down for that. thats one of the ONLY things i hate R Grass sessions. I think its cuz im more of a tumbler and i have yet to try an arabian on grass and dont plan on it soon.AND IT HURTS SO BADDD!:ouch:. idk. but y a grass session? Do u not like gyms?

I can let you know how to get to Coppell; I go there at least twice a week on the way to the chiropractic office in Irving. (Come to think of it, you need to know how to get to us to get to Coppell. PM me about it.) :]

As for grass sessions: that's an absolute last resort. Unless someone brings a mat (Which maybe we should ask Ken about?), trying new things or tricks that people are not comfortable with have higher risks for injury.

Also I know that Ken is allergic to grass, but will trick on grass as a last resort (like when he really wants footage of something and it's not a gym day).

Ha! I live in irving..Well the Las Colinas area so I'm close to Coppell. I work in Lewisville though. I'll get you guys the info on the gym there soon, sorry I've taken so long on it, I promise I won't forget though!
