milk is so fucking good. after i trick, i usually drink 16 ounces of milk in a sitting. i don't know why, it just feels like it's the right thing to do.
my stepmother got pissed at me once cause i drank 8 gallons of milk in a week. she put me on milk rationing.
anyone else have this irrational desire to drink lots of milk?

hahaha, yes. I often get milk after i trick. i like milk straight up plenty, but i've often opted for Nesquik premixed kind right after tricking. Its just so amazingly creamy and smooth and delicious *ahhhhhhhhhh*

Check that out and see if you still want to drink milk. I don't usually force this stuff down people's throats (like doctors do with milk) but I figured since you love milk so much you might want to read this.
I havn't drank milk (or soda) in over a year (including eating any dairy) and i've never felt better.
And before you ask, I get calcium from those secret things that not many people eat... vegetables. Specifically the leafy green variaty.

Juvenile delinquency is directly linked to milk consumption
in an important scientific study.
The Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine (Volume 7, No. 1,
1995, Melvyn Werbach, M.D.) reviewed the "Aggressive
Behavior Syndrome" in teenage children. Violent behavior
has many clinical names including Antisocial Personality
Disorder, Hyperactivity Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant
Disorder.
When violent teen behavior is directly linked to a specific
food consumed, it is labeled Organic Personality Syndrome.
some of this is so ridiculous it has to have been made up. they connect milk with everything from slavery to racism to road rage.

I drink 4pts of semi-skimmed milk on workout days. Organic, of course. Still, though - its pasteurised and homogenised, which is not cool. I have no idea where to get raw milk in any real quantity.
If you're prone to fat gain, remember that milk is very insulinogenic, so save it for after training. And for me at least, it is highly soporific. Milk before training makes me tired, slow, weak.

non pasteurised milk can contain a pretty large dose of bacteria since it hasn't been subject to the intense cold or heat.
I know for a fact that there was some kind of ruckus a couple of years ago with people dying from the bacteria in un-pasteurised milk.
However I'm sure you're sitting on some kind of info you will link me to that will prove me wrong.

nope - but I assume you have some info about the contamination rates of cows milk? Theres plenty of pro-raw-milk sites around, but you won't find any peer-reviewed studies if thats what you're after.
Milk doesn't inherantly contain pathogenic bacteria. The problem is sloppy farm operations that use over-milked, diseased old cows, with bleeding udders covered in shit, and use poorly-sterilised vessels for collection and transport of the milk.
Just like meat - taken fresh from an animal its neccessarily free of bacteria. Careless production strategies and long times to the table, make it very unwise to eat raw meat from shops.
If I knew the farmer, could inspect the operation, and was satisfied by it all - I'd have no problems with raw milk at all.

Because the extra 30 calories of fat make all of the difference. Or not. Itachi, I'm starting to find you know absolutely nothing.
If you're prone to fat gain, remember that milk is very insulinogenic, so save it for after training.
Drinking milk outside of workout situations will not be a huge factor in fat gain. The candy, pop, desserts, pop tarts, and other shit will be much more of a factor.

---or---
what candy, pop, desserts, etc? I don't eat any of that shit, neither does the target audience of my post about milk being insulinogenic. So for them, having long-ago ditched the classical junk food, can be aware that milk, too, will be rather insulinogenic.

then I said, in parody of your "there are worse things, so milk isn't a problem"
Candy, pop, deserts, pop tarts will not be a huge factor in fat gain.
bags of refined glucose will be much more of a factor.
you quoted me out of context, ignoring the second line. It was meant to imply that although there are always worse foods to eat, one doesn't have to ignore how they eat "better" foods. Like milk vs. junk, as you said. Sure, the junk is worse, but milk is highly insulinogenic, and there being worse food choices doesn't mean that milk can/should be drunk at any time.

I will also explain this, which you didn't seem to understand (about my "target audience" etc). The people reading my advice about milk aren't eating candy/pop/crap anyway, so to advise against doing so (as you did, in quoted-response to my milk-post-workout post) is of no use. Milk, however, may well be a part of their diet, and considering it's timing in the day may be a valid way to improve.

Yes, unless it is organic, because they treat the cows, the stuff they eat with loads of antibiotics and growth hormones and such. Then you get to drink it. So buy organic from a local farm or something so that you aren't ingesting estrogen up the whazoo.

Looks like someone doesn't understand that the point of milk is not only nutrition, but the transference of antibodies/hormones.
No matter if you get it 'organic' or not, you're going to get bovine antibodies/hormones.
Yeah, bovine antibodies and hormones in there normal quantity is fine, which is what is present in organic, non-treated milk. But when the levels are jacked up to increase milk production in cows on those huge farms, that's when it gets unhealthy.
-Envy-
Oct-12-08, 02:07 PM
Except for the fact that the levels of those chemicals that acutally come out in the milk is such a miniscule (or nonexisant) amount that it is irrelevant.
