I have heard it suggested, mainly from Juji, that stretching while sore with DOMS can compound and prolong the soreness. Dynamic stretches are excellent for a temporary relief from DOMS'ed legs, and to gain range of motion, but shortly afterwards, the DOMS returns fully.
Static passive stretching is supposedly the worst, I guess maybe PNF stretching could be, infact.
I am frequently, if not constantly, sore, currently. I have had times in the past where I have had no DOMS at all, with insane training volumes, and I'm endevouring to regain that condition - but for now I have to deal with it. I want to be able to stretch, long-duration static stretches, specifically. If it will worsen my DOMS, I won't. If it has no effect, I certainly will. Although the greatly-reduced ROM resultant from DOMS perhaps makes stretching somewhat useless when sore; I wouldn't be challenging my true ROM at all.
So, stretching may temporarily alleviate muscle soreness, but does it infact worsen it, increasing recovery time?
Thanks
