is canned tuna any good...??
cause from what i know its basically all the tuna shit (skin, bones, head, body flesh and all) crammed all together and processed and then put in a few preserving chemicals and then it gets real old, but still nowhere near the expiry date.. Doesnt that make it unhealthy??

Cause i read in a few of juji's articles that canned tuna is a good part of a diet.

PS>>>> same principle and same question applied to canned fruit!!!!:eh:

It's just tuna (real meat) in a tin, with oil/water.brine etc...

Yes it is good.

Canned fruit is also good. If you can, buy it 'in its own juice' or in 'light syrup'. Avoid 'in heavy syrup'- fruit doesn't need extra sugar!

If you are looking for another longterm/convenient way to get your fruits, consider frozen fruits.

Haha, this site (http://www.tunafacts.com/) claims it is the most comprehensive source of 'canned tuna' information on the Internet. Enjoy!

I eat lots of canned meat. Canned beef, salmon, turkey, chicken, tuna... My meat consumption has almost soley been based on canned meats since Summer haha... Hasn't been a problem though, I've never been this strong or lean. Eat up! Just maybe rinse and opt for canned meats with less preservatives. Nothing better than looking at the ingredients and reading a simple list,

INGREDIENTS: BEEF, WATER, SALT. :flesh:

But you also haven't been hitting the roids until now, eh wot! Although actually there's no point to me mentioning this, since I eat almost randomly and can press over 1.5 times my body weight, haha.

I used to eat a lot of tinned corned beef, now the idea sickens me a bit. I still eat a few cans of tuna on occasion.

You americans put everything in tins. The only meat I have ever seen in a tin is tuna (and some other fish), and spam.

I don't trust spam.

Tins are too bothersome to open.

Not if they have the pull tab thing.

None of the larger/bulk tins have these though, it's descrimination.

My friend stole me 10kg of packets of tuna from his work before he quit.

10kg.. What's that? A weeks supply?

I do love tuna. And the cheapest cans ALWAYS come without the pull tab thingamajiggy. Is there even a name for it?

Dude back in high school I would eat a can of tuna, two bananas, and a protein shake every day for lunch. EVERY DAY. I hate tuna with a passion now. It disgusts me. To me it's like eating vomit flavored wet cardboard. But I still eat it. Ugh... too bad it's good protein.

Fresh tuna filets thrown in a pan gourmet style is excellent.

Too bad it's more expensive than cocain.

hmm isnt there a hype about the mercury levels in (canned)tuna or something. At least that is what i remember of the conclusion reached in the last tuna thread ever made.

It's my understanding that the higher mercury levels are more prevalent in albacore, and if you are poor like me then that 20 cent difference in price means you avoid albacore and don't need to worry about it.

yeah... tuna and salmon are suceptible to bioaccumulation. to put it another way, we dump shit in water, salmon and tuna take this shit in very easily. i was more aware of magnesium than mercury being a fucker. doesnt stop me eating tuna

Tell you what, until someone is diagnosed with death from fish consumption I'm just going to keep eating it and feel healthy and happy everytime I do.
The fish consumption does not include choking on fishbones.

It should also not include any type of food poisoning due to poor handling. It has to be a substance that is ever present in fish and is consumed when eating fish. Fugu does not count.

Can't believe I'm hearing people who go to the gym moan about the hassal of opening tins without pull tags. Can opener it's in the same room as the food.

Even when I ignore the lack of information about the severe overfishing of tuna on this site, it still reeks of fishing lobby.
