I was thinking about this because of Juji's new tutorial. Would you say that on average, people prefer the look of a straight legged crescent kick in the 360, or chambered, as it might be in Taekwondo?

Two gifs side by side would do wonders, but from memory I would say a chambered one looks more powerful to me.

I would say from a asthetic point of view, a straight legged 360 crescent looks better. The kick flows nicely and goes all the way across the area of the intended "target". From a more techinical point of view, the chambered version looks better because it carries more power and it's more snappy. It's really hard to judge though.

It seems the consensus so far is straight legged, so I must be right in chambering it.

the non kicking leg should be chambered for maximium power and awesomeness.

juji's is nice, but i think it would look alot better if he tucked that trailing leg in nice and tight.

Chambering is more powerful.

Steve is powerful.

Makes sense.

Yes, I tuck the non-kicking leg and chamber the kicking leg.

i do both depending. if it's a 360 alone or "popping" (i hate this "pop" thing) into anything then ill probly chamber. on the other hand straight leg works a hell of a lot better for me when doing 360gyro and variations.

I simply like to keep the non kicking leg straight. That gives a better look, imo..

WOAH! a serious trick related thread by steve!

and chambering the 2nd leg? Its not really doing anything, so its purely asthetics.

for the science of spinning, if you want to gyro it then a straight leg will be better, but saying that i 720 double with a bent non-kicking leg.

meh, personal preference. I think both look cool.

If I'm doing a normal 360 crescent, which i almost never do because 70% of the time my balls slap together which hurts like hell, I keep the non kicking leg straight, but if im doing hyper 360 I chamber the non kicking leg.

For either I always keep my kicking leg straight, because I find I get a smoother and higher kick when I do (chambering my crescent kicks seem to fuck them up for me ) plus I just think it looks better.

I noticed that as well. I like chambering the leg as the kick comes accross. Its makes it look like a kick rather then a jump spin split thing.

Yeah exactly.

I don't chamber my non-kicking leg, although I probably should start now since my straight non-kicking leg keeps floating up at the end of the move lol. Sometimes forcing the chamber screws me up though, oh well it's something to play with.

I always chamber my non-kicking leg for p360s . I feel as though it makes hypering p360s much easier .

The only thing sadder than bumping old topics is when people reply to old bumped topics as if they're new.

Rudy Reynon does a much better 360 hook in Nathan P's loopkicks sampler, id say that technique is better to look at. straight legged shouldnt be taught at first.

Well that's obviously a load of crap.
360 Hooks are quite different than 360 Crescents.

^this.

chambering on a 360 is entirely personal preference. It makes absolutely bugger all difference, its purely aesthetic.

The trick is based on a crescent kicks, and those traditionally do not have to be chambered, its only when people try to apply "meaning" to a trick technique that they look at how people in competition fighting do it, and mimic them. Its unnecessary as far as the trick technique is concerned.

the reason for chambering with a bent leg is so you can perform it quicker to outpace an opponent, or catch them off guard. The 360 is a trick techique, the reason for doing a 360 with a straight leg is to make it look aesthetically pleasing.

Each have their purposes, ours is to make it look good. Plus you can probably generate more power with a straight leg throughout, if you're a die hard MA fan and want another justification for doing it.

yeah true, i meant 360 crescent or whatever, same as 540 hook for a cheat 7.
