other than see a doctor of course.....

I actually thought of this, but i figure people will probably just post their injury thread in the flexibility forum.

No. Just no.

How about offering a reason to go with your opinion?

I'd use it... but it doesn't seem necessary.

Too many idiots who think they might have had the same thing telling someone to do something, then them being stupid and doing it, when in probability it's different leading to the injured person with an injury a lot worse then it was.

No one on here is a doctor and even if they were they would not diagnose over the internet, if you have an injury, you go to the doctor, not a message board with plenty of people thinking they know how to fix it.

Why need a forum, when it can be summed up pretty much like this:

1: R.I.C.E. it.

2: P.H.O.N.E. D.O.C.T.O.R.

Yes?

how about a forum entitled "injuries" with 1 closed thread stating this then nobody's allowed to make new threads haha

i duno, im inbetween with the idea...maybe a forum where people can post their crashes, and ask for advice on how to land it, but that would be more under tips for tricks, i duno, if it was ther id probably use it

hrm...i disagree with you. not saying that there arent idiots out there..but there ARE people tha tknow what they're talking about. and you dont necessarily have to diagnose somebody over the internet. there ARE things that you do in any given situation regardless. its like standard treatment.

for example...like jan said. RICE...rest ice compression elevation. this is applicable to ALOT of sports-related injuries. secondly, the forum can be used as a sort of referance...what works..what doesnt work. cool videos, stories...and moral support.

i'm a combat medic...ive seen alot of injuries...ive treated many as well. i work with doctors every day, and a couple of them i bullshit with. so i hope you dont take offense when i say shut the fuck up.

Jan has that covered, it would be, 1) R.I.C.E then phone doctor if it doesn't get better to every thread (in reference to most common tricking injuries)

The rest of those things already have the other forums to go in.

Finally lets be honest, as a medic you would know that you shouldn't go into telling someone what to do when you don't know what's wrong as it could make it worse, also, why was the shut the fuck up necessary, someone asked me my reason and I gave it.

Anyone with medical education should know that if there's pain in a specific region, it can be caused by a myriad of different things. You can't diagnose anyone over the internet, simply because you can't examine the injury closely enough.

does anyone from the UK remember Simon? He was a fake physio who fucked about with peoples ankles around 2005....

everyone who went to the 2005 gathering met him (when we arrived at badby woods i think).

anyhoo, he was a recruiter for a fitness gym, and had made his own physiotherapy certificates on his computer. He tried to say he was just trying to help people, but he was fucking creepy.

Im sure andy ward could re-tell this better than me haha. Suffice to say eventually the UK guys forced him out of his job and forced him to move.

But yeah, anyways the point of this is anyone can come on the forum and give bogus advice, and it only takes one piece of bogus advice to fuck up someones life.

Gah I remember him, he was going to start fucking with my knee, I'm glad I didn't get round to letting him do it after hearing that shortly after.

i'm not talking about diagnosing tho. i'm talking about precautions and standard procedures. example. arriving on the scene of an accident. the protocol would call for checking the scene for any possible dangers...it would then go to airway, breathing, and circulation. and of course, maintaining the C-SPINE in case of any injuries sustained to the spine. this is just an example...one could compare this to "i did a backflip and when i landed my ankle rolled and now its swollen"...precautions would be ace wrap (bottom to top), RICE, and anti-inflammitories. as far as breaks and sprains one could only assume. therefore you go to the hospital to get it checked out..i.e. x-rays, etc. i'm not saying dont go to the doctor but if something happend to me and i didnt know what to do, itd be helpful to know what immediate actions and precautions to take.

as for diagnosing, youre right. diagnosing over the internet is retarded. but like you said, it could be a myriad of things. so why not put in 2 cents and state what you think the possibilities could be. example: someone bangs their knee pretty bad. swelling hasnt gone down, theres pain, and he claims that his leg "gives out" on him. you could say well hey...you might have done some meniscal damage..or it could be a tear in one of the other ligaments. maybe perhaps its just a sprain? but at least he or she knows what it could POSSIBLY be. but by all means im not saying that you should attempt to tell someone what is wrong with them. after all, doctors are doctors for a reason. all i'm saying is that it would be useful to have an injuries thread.

i personally would appreciate a forum like that if i didnt know what the hell to do. after all, if it were something serious that i paid no mind to, i would rather have somewhere to check and see what i should do in the present time instead of doing nothing at all. does it make sense?

p.s. my bad about the "shut the fuck up" it wasnt meant to be demeaning in any way. i retract my previous post and hope you can understand why i think there should be an injuries forum.

have a nice day
