Just to let you all know, a horizontal twist from a double leg setup is not, in any way, a double leg twist.

Seriously, there is a single digit number of people I've seen that can actually do a ligit "double leg twist". Holding the double leg for a third of the move doesn't cut it.

of course! :good:

dleg in - twist - dleg out

Is this bash everyone's tricks day or something? lol.
On topic however, I agree. Lets not lose our high standards of execution.

Yup! Thats just some sorta punch cheat 720 twist.

You must twist on the way down from the doubleleg.

I dont mean to toot my own horn (haha) but I have landed an actual doubleleg twist and have tried those little punch cheat 720 twists...totally not the same move haha. The doubleleg twist doesnt feel like a twist but a double leg 360 gyro instead.

Also I will probably never do this move again, i dislocated my ankle and ruptured my ligaments doing it. lol

Manny Brown, Matt Emig, 13th ace is getting there, juji, lu...all have real nice ones.

Manny Brown has the best example of a double leg twist, in my opinion.

I loved the double leg twists in your sampler, Jon P. It just sucks that you injured yourself doing it. Although at least you didn't hurt yourself doing a mere frontflip, like me.

Word up, Sessh's double leg twist is bomb diggity!

Someone want to post Sessh and/or Juji's double leg twist(s)?

Jan-25-07, 10:46 AM
i was thinking about this on the way home from school today haha, it made me think... shouldn't double leg twists feel like double legs and then gyroing the rotation at the end ? because if you were to twist it early on your head goes lower than your hips and it kinda looks like a sideflip twist thing...

Jan-25-07, 11:06 AM
Is a Kim Do kick twist easier or harder? Seems like certain people I see do Kim Do Twists (Hoai Le, Crazy Asian) but not a lot of doubleleg twists, if any.

Dave C
Jan-25-07, 11:07 AM
sorry, archaic trick terminology. I meant a doubleleg split twist

Alexx
Jan-25-07, 11:12 AM
nah man, everyone still calls em kim do's from what i can think..

TartanPajamas
Jan-25-07, 11:27 AM
Kim Do twist is probably easier because you can just twist immediately after kicking; whereas, to do a really uber double leg twist, you need to stall it a lot more. I like Manny Brown's technique, where he starts flattening out when He's halfway through the first rotation (double leg section), and by the time his stomach is facing the ground he is pretty much totally flat and chucks in the twist.

TartanPajamas
Jan-25-07, 11:36 AM
Yeah, he twisted waaaay too early for my liking.

kim do twists are way easier, as you can use the kick out to give a little more upward momentum, i can land these on level mats in a pit but havent had the balls to try on floor

double leg twists i can do off a spring board, but cant do them for shit without it, and again thats onto level mats, with a mini tramp i can do them on floor because it gives me about a minute of extra air time

I'd have to say no...but don't despair, there are alot of things that you're doing that's good!

Alot of people treat the trick like it's a "flipping" trick. In other words, the run up and "punch" off the ground trying to get the most out of the plyo...this is a bad way to approach the trick; however it's not the wrong way either. It just makes the transition from doing it on plyo to grass & concrete harder.

You actually get into the Doubleleg position, which seems to be avoided by alot of people who claim they can Doubleleg Twist. There is a big difference between a running Cheat 720 Twist and a Doubleleg Twist.

Your arm usage is pretty decent when it comes to wrapping, but what you need is more height! You may be running too fast into the set-up because you travel to far while you're in the air on the Doubleleg Twist.

You gotta remember that a legit Doubleleg Twist occurs when there is a full (1/1) gyro after the Doubleleg has swept over, but before the it is landed. In terms of "optimum time to gyro", when following this path: ( == \\ || // == ) a good time to gyro would be at the second to last frame. The best Doubleleg Twist will gyro at the last frame...that's the Manny Brown!

I have a question. What happened to the term "gyro"?

sesshoumaru
Jan-25-07, 09:14 PM
Nothing happened to it in my opinion...it's used mainly as a descriptive tool to portrait how a trick may look and operate. Though gyro'd tricks are really nice, many of them aren't very combo'able, so it gets pushed by the wayside.

It's like this for many tricks that end with a gyro. Doubleleg Twist, Snapuswipe, Crowd Awakener II, and 540 gyro are all difficult to manage within combos...especially when you try to combo after them.

TartanPajamas
Jan-26-07, 05:54 AM
I always figured "gyro" meant an additional spin once in landing position. Therefore, a double leg twist would not be a double leg gyro. I never heard that from anyone, though, I just guessed by watched Terada do his 540 gyros.

As for what Sessh just said: I'd say that the fact that gyros are difficult to combo makes them more appealing to me. Generally speaking, combos are supposed to be difficult.

erufukami
Jan-26-07, 06:00 AM
See... when the trick was first being done it was called a dleg gyro. A gyro implies that there was an additional spin after the trick was preformed... yeah..... dleg gyro.... duhhhhhhhh. I'm drunk right now so.. sorry if I'm an asshole. Ummmm.... Yeah. A dleg GYRO should be a dleg first! THEN a twist aka GYRO. But the "landing position" thought.... eh... no. Sorry.

Jan-26-07, 10:48 AM
ah right i see what you mean, so what your saying is, some are cheated dleg twists, which are more like the sideflip twists some people do. But a real double leg twist (or gyro as i now see them) are where you gyro out of the dleg.

TartanPajamas

I agree. He's one of the few people out there that, in my opinion, can even say he can do a double leg twist.

You sir, are THE mot helpful guy i've ever "met".

And yeah, looking back at that attempt, damn, I WILL do better bext time i'm at gym, (sunday hopefully) so, nice high double leg, wrap in on the way down, and land like a bitch. I can't see this being to easy, but hey! should be fun :good:

looked more like a double side flip. Stil damn impressive, though. That's too bad about your injuries...rest! You'll never get better if you don't give it a break! Trust me. I'm 22, and I already feel like I'm falling apart from tricking for a mere 6ish months.
