What techniques do you guys use?

tracekillz
Jan-24-07, 09:46 AM
layout at the start. twist in the middle. makes it easier for flash fulls anyway :P

I wanna know how anis does his standing full rounds...they are maasssive and so easy for him.

Jan-24-07, 09:50 AM
i like that one flip he does..where it starts as a backflip...ends up facing the other way..but he holds his leg thru it and axes down at the end (i think.) its in his latest sampler. seshh did something like that out of a round...but it was with a full twist......too good :P

axe-halftwist?

and you wanna see my fulltwist technique? i know you do.

first of three or four standing full attempts ever. yeah, first try was on grass. i am hardcore.

http://www.slackerbox.org/~seiki/misc/tricks/fullfoolishness.mpg

turn it up when you listen to it to get the full effect. haha. that was teh hella most fun flip ive ever thrown on grass.

I am struggling with this move, greatly. I do it opposite to how it should be. Twist first, then layout out of it.

I will fix this though. Im just a pussy.

Any thread not created by Andy and his tight knit group of friends about the proper mechanics of kicking equals spam.

I use the wrap like a bitch approach.

Meh.. he's spamming

TartanPajamas
Jan-24-07, 06:08 PM
Any "spamming" is a result of my injured ankle coupled with the fact that it's winter and I can't go trick anyway. Now, to think of more thread ideas...

Oh, and I use the "throw everything up, leave the ground, twist the moment I'm off the ground" technique, and it works quite well for me.

TartanPajamas
Jan-24-07, 06:11 PM
I just watched Musasabi's fulltwist. That was really good, you threw your arms up and twisted after you left the ground, most people just chuck it all to the side and do slant fulls. You gave up halfway through, though.

musasabi
Jan-24-07, 06:17 PM
haha, gave up? hows that?

TartanPajamas
Jan-24-07, 06:25 PM
Watch it in frame-by-frame. Halfway through you go, "What, effort? Nah, fuck it." and crash. You just let the move run its course without maintaining your control over it.

musasabi
Jan-24-07, 06:37 PM
haha. might be the fact that that was the first fulltwist of any sort (roundoff, tramp, elevated, etc) i had ever tried. :good:

TartanPajamas
Jan-24-07, 06:41 PM
Why haven't you tried roundoff?

tracekillz

TartanPajamas

That is incorrect.

Dave C
Jan-24-07, 09:14 PM
when i learned how to full i'd just act like i was rolling over my left shoulder in midair. That's a trickster full.

once i got more comfortable i started setting my arms up and then pulling them down to my chest when i started rotating. that's gymnastics fullzzz.

standing fulls are ALLL about arm placement. if you're landing them low, then bring your arms up higher

TartanPajamas
Jan-24-07, 09:17 PM
Dave C excels at a fulltwist technique that I usually hate. He makes it look pretty cool, though.

i do my fulls out of an arabian set-up, i set up and turn as if to do an arabian, but instead of throwing my arms over and down into a tuck for the arabian, and bring them down and across to full, from what ive heard from other gymnasts its a more european style of doing fulls, the american style is what everyone else has said which is layout, then twist. I find the arabian style easier, but give both a try

yes, I use the same tech, but I can't do em standing yet  I hope to learn the layout version one day though :eh:

I agree. Not to mention, it's more to think about than just "up and twist".

musasabi
Jan-25-07, 04:58 AM
trace - hahaha. :good: <3

tartan - well, cause i have yet to summon the balls to properly set out of my roundoff. not too long though, im working on it.

TartanPajamas
Jan-25-07, 05:07 AM
You have the balls to try standing fulls, but not setting from a roundoff?

musasabi
Jan-25-07, 05:16 AM
yup. crashing is fine, but its that moment while setting when your eyes focus, and youre like "fuck, im 10' off the ground" that makes me freak out, haha. :good:

TartanPajamas
Jan-25-07, 05:22 AM
So get a spotter.

NOT Muscle Man
Jan-25-07, 06:49 AM
I used to do this, the only flaw here though is that it's very hard to get a double full or anything more from that technique

not really, i bust double fulls out of that set-up all the time, ive come close to triples, and my sausage lvl 1 (full-flash-full) is about a quarter twist off (take a look at the new arashi samp) but that could just be me, other people may have a problem with it, it just depends on the person

TartanPajamas
Jan-25-07, 09:58 AM
I still say it'd be easier for you if you used the layout twist technique, but that's just my opinion.

I've a question...
When i tried to do fulltwists i did not get the rotation. What i got was a sideways btuck.
So... could you give me a step by step thinking process on how it goes?

Do i start thinking on twisting and then a btuck or is it a btuck and a twist? How do you get to start the rotation? do you use your arms or what?

Thanks

hamelkarl
Jan-25-07, 12:25 PM
I can't twist a full rotation when I try this move but I can do G-full WTF!?!

hamelkarl
Jan-25-07, 12:31 PM
What is different if both are twist? The take off is different but the twist is the same! I don't get it. I want Full twist ARGH!

Duke_Hoff
Jan-25-07, 12:35 PM
Well your body is kind of already in the air and youre begining the twist from a way easier momentum builder on gainerfulls. With a roundoff, its almost as if youre just jumping off the ground. Both feet, have to go up and over. Theyre way different, do not be discouraged sir.

There is backflip first, and then there is the twist. Don't tuck, though.

Backflip, then when you are off the ground, twist. Then land on the feet on the ground/ceiling/etc.

Good luck!

Jan-26-07, 02:29 PM
i land on my head with my fulltwists now... i used to set with both arms then wrap one in like on my old club 540 vid, then i found out its pretty much impossible to do multiple twists that way, cartwheel full i bring both arms up then in to my shoulder, roundoff full i do the same but twist too early, freak out and land on my head/side/shoulders

TartanPajamas
Jan-26-07, 02:44 PM
Bring your arms up for the set, then to your side for the twist once you leave the ground. Cartwheel fulltwist is the same, except the set is sideways.

stephen renneys explanation of twisting is pretty good i find in his standing fulltwist round tutorial, gas arm and steering wheel arm etc.

i just land the r-off with my arms out in front, then whip up, turn the shoulders and pull the arms in.

standing fulltwists you've just gotta exaggerate it loads.

i want to get cartwheel doublefulls though, im stuck on 1 1/2 lol

TartanPajamas
Jan-26-07, 09:50 PM
I don't like Renney's fulltwist roundkick tutorial, actually. He has a nice fulltwist round, I just didn't much like the tutorial.
