Off topic, but why are people obsessed with how fast they can get the splits? I never understood it. What, is it like something came up spontaneously that demanded the ability to do the splits within a week or two or whatever?
OH MY GOD! THERE IS A PARTY AT DAVE'S ONE WEEK FROM TOMORROW! I NEED TO GET THE SPLITS IN 8 DAYS OR I FAIL IN LIFE!?
Figuratively speaking, flexibility training is piss easy and gains come session to session. Why can't people just take their time and be amazed what consistency in stretching can provide in a couple months? Why does it have to be so god damn soon?

Because this is AMERICA you god damned terrorist. We do things fast. We want our food fast, our women faster, and our fitness and health should have been taken care of yesterday by someone else.
People in this country are spoon fed so much that they don't take responsibility for anything they do (I'm speaking in general terms, not actually meaning 'everybody'). They say they can't work out because they're fat (wow, logic train?). They say their fat because of genetics (yeah, the fat genes in your fat ass you got from your fat parents that also didn't exercise or eat right). They want an instant fix to everything.
That's one reason tricking is underground, and it's not that common to find tricksters. Hell, its not even that common to find dedicated gym rats or martial artists. People just don't want the responsibility of dedicating themselves to stuff. That's why marriages fail, why people don't go to college, and why people's lives generally suck ass.
I hold myself accountable. I can do the splits. I'm not fat. I kick ass.

no! i discovered i secret method to get you splits in under 10 seconds. you have to be in ice or some other slippery surface, well you start this by jumping. it doesn't have to be very high, you spread your legs and once you hit the ground, BAM you have the splits:good:

This method however, may lower testosterone levels significantly in male tricksters. :bad:
Btw, your jacknife (in avatar) - with another year or two of practice, is going to be one of the nicer (nicest) ones around. You completely "get" the whole "body bail" concept that Chris D has mastered! Congratulations, keep at it; it's gonna be sick as hell with practice, I can see it coming. :wicked:

That happened to me when I was 5. Except I didn't jump, I just slipped out into a perfect side split and being un-flexible as hell my muscles tore off my right femur. The part of my leg below the broken part flew up and my foot laid to rest on my right hip. So if you picture the leg actually flipping up with the knee bending the other way. Having your birthday while pissing into a bottle in the hospital sucks dick.
Holy shit I screamed for an hour.. Hahaha and then 13 years later I go and break the same bone by snowboarding into a tree. Life is comedy.

branlesplits are safetier to get than eny other splits, branleh. just open your legs , branle and when the branlesplash is coming, branle yourself down.

I did that once too. Only i was pushed and only one of my feet was on solid ground, the other was on a long patch of ice. Mbe thats why I'm having so much trouble getting them these days. Oh well. One day at a time.

yeah that sorta happened to me. When i was 3.5, i fell of the slide and landed in the front splits amidst those crawl tubes you see in parks. I broke my femur. haven't even been close to front splits before or since.

i always thought children with the age of 5-6 were naturally flexible, maybe because my brother is 7 and can almost do front splits (he doesn't do any sport)...well i gess they aint that flexible

If you do it in a controlled manner they are much more flexible. But if you do a full awesome Drop-down-in-one-second-ballistic stretch then you've got some problems even if you're a kid.

Instant results never happen doing the splits everyone knows that but everyone thinks there get the splits in 2 weeks or less. I think Juji is spot on. username sorry but are u saying u never train to get a trick, practising or learning ticks would be a yes. you have to learn and train to do the splits like everything in life even tricking. some tricks you get right away but the hard ones you have to learn and train for, or am

I totally a gree with him! You know if you get your splits the correct way without all these stupid cheating strategies you will feel more proud of your splits and have a greater feeling of achievement.

Actually while I'm close to splits anyways, I have a performance on the 23rd (would have helped if they told us when we had more than 3 weeks to prepare >_>) and I feel it would be quite beneficial to land in the splits from some move (still need to pick one) as a crowd pleasing technique. That why I want them fast. :)
But other than that most people just don't want to expend the time, effort, or dedication to train for weeks to get more flexible. So they just want a quick easy way out. Sorta like why America is full of fat people. Nobody wants to get up and work it off but if they come out with a "demolish all your non-essential fat pill", it would sell like hotcakes! Lazay!

I've been stretching for about two weeks and I'm close to splits. But than I hold for like thirty minutes at a time o_o I have lots of free time...
I agree wholly with the last part, even though I'm fat haha. At least I'm trying. ^_^
How about a hyperswipe to split? Flash to split? Anything with bacflips in it is generally a crowd-pleaser...

I tried going in to sidesplits for like a whole day going down then going up and taking a pause and then allowing myself to go further down.
And the thing is that, I lost flexibility the day afterwards due to it

overstretching? i never know what are the limits, but i never stretch for more than an hour.
