Periostitis. It's painful, it's annoying, I've got it.
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/p/periostitis/intro.htm
Anyone know what it is, or have it for that matter?
I've had this for like 2 years now, and it gets worse and worse. The doctor said it'd take years for my legs to adapt because i started doing exercise too sudden, but it's not getting better. :dead:
I used to be able to run 10 km almost every day, sometimes more! But at one point i stopped being able to, and after 2 years i can't run more than 3 or 4 km without getting extreme lower leg pain. It's like my leg bones are slowly becoming thinner and weaker or god knows what!
Anyone has any experience with this condition? Because i'm pretty sure by now it's never ever going to get better, and that sucks pretty badly.

I used to run 20km every now and then with just sneakers. Now i have running shoes, and these silicone things for my ankle to cushion it and elevate it too, without that it'd be way worse.

Exclude GLUTEN and dairy from your diet.
Secondarily rest, strengthen your tibialis anterior, and do grandual build up in both intensity and volume. Try enriching your diet with green cruciferous vegetables, and fruits.

Dairy= milk, cheese, yoghurt etc.
Gluten= ANYTHING with wheat, rye, barley, beer, gin, whiskey, pasta, noodles (haha almost anything :P)
RICE IS ALLOWED and recommended (basmati, wild rice whatever)
corn is also allowed

Don't believe me? Try and see for yourself. Your problem will be eliminated within 2 weeks. Bye.

i got 0wn3d in 3.75 seconds, that's a new record
Acidhell has trampled all over this forum.
How come you are so sure that gluten and dairy are the culprits? Had the same problems?

Well i dont mind cutting off the bread/beer, maybe i'll just reduce milk. And i'll certainly double/tripple the tibialis anterior.
I'll tell you how it goes next month
milk is for babies, when you grow up you have to drink beer - Arnold

Mind you if you need to cut something out of a diet, you need to remove it completely. No half-ass stuff.

1. Do you know how you got it? If now, try to find out. Make an analysis of your walking/running ( your doctor should be able to do that).
2. Didn't your doctor recommend you to rest?
3. Never run with pain.
4. Strengthen the muscles of your shin. Not with weights, but with a theraband for example. And of course not while you're having pain. That's why I think that a pause in your training will do you very good.
