What are the most useful stretches to up your ankle flexibility for the starting position of the olympic lifts?

Edit: I have sufficent flexibility to do them to begin with, its just i'd feel more comfortable with a little bit more 'room'.

Branling is the answer.

Also, if you want more ankle flexibility, do ankle stretches. Just pick some new ones from Juji's big list of stretches.

What is limiting you? The dorsi flexion of your ankle?

I've never felt that my ankle flexibilty has been an issue when lifting, and my calves are pretty tight.

Yea, its the dorsiflexion. It doesnt hinder me, I would just feel more comfortable with a little more give. My right ankle is the trouble one, it has enough flexibility but not as much as my left.

I don't get it haha, how does your leg bend like that? the bar is usually over the knuckles of my feet when I do them.

Hmm, your tibia shouldnt really be too far forwards anyway. It's not completely vertical, but the ankle shouldn't be very flexed either.

It's probably from tight calves/soleus. Just stretch them out whenever you get the chance.
