My backflips keep going forward and not back. When I do them on the an airtrack i do a gainer-like thing. When I do them on flat ground I slam the back of my head in the ground (as if I lacked height, but I don't). When I do them into the grave I slam my face on the edge of the grave.
I have only had the opportunity to film my backflips on the airtrack.. but I'll see if I can get some video of me doing them on flat ground.
Untill then.. does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?:eh: How can you accidentally go forward in a backflip? I had expected the opposite problem..
Thanks for any tips!

Wow!! Thatīs something new. The first few times i tried a backflip it went pretty far back. :ouch:
Well, first of all, did you watch jujiīs backflip tutorial? If not you should. It really helped me. And another thing that you could try is to keep your
arms straight and throw them up and not too far back or to the front. I gues if you would make a short vid we could help you a bit better.
Going forward? Hahaha that's awesome man, you should record it and post the vid, you should be proud :P
Anyways, from what I can gather it seems you have problem with tucking and with the jump. Maybe you are not swinging you arms up enough so you go a bit forward instead? Is your upperback straight? Do you have a spotter or have you asked a friend to watch you do a backflip and then tell you what you are doing?

I use to have this problem, I think your pushing your hips forward too much, and maybe jumping a bit forward. Practicing jumping straight up and fling your arms bac first. That will get u used to jumping straight up like u shld in a backflip

Hey, thanks for the replies!
I went to the gym yesterday, and for the first time ever, I managed to get hold of a proper spotter!
After a while he actually began telling me to jump a little bit back instead of up haha.
Then I figured it out.. I wasn't tucking my arms all the way up! As soon as I began doing that I lost the forward going momentum, and was able to land on my feet instead of my knees.
To make sure I could do it without the help of the airtrack, I did one last one on the mattress, and I think it went alright! But what do you guys think?

Nothing new, I've seen it before. But it is quite rare. The problem I believe is that you're maybe pushing your chest and hips out, and trying to tuck in the wrong "direction". Think of the tuck more as getting your knees to skim over your shoulders and behind/under yourself. Hope I can be of some help..

its because ur not using your arms AT ALL, im not suprised ur landing on ur head doing them like that. Swing ur arms up and make sure your body is in a fully stretched out position before you tuck

What the man said. What's the point of reading tutorials if you don't do what they say you should be doing?
