Yeah, uh...I'm pretty new to tricking, I mean two days or so... and I've been wondering if anyone could help me with an idea for some sort of protective layer? I don't have access to a spotter and the softest ground would have to be the grass in my garden/local park... If anyone knows what I should wear/put on the grass to suppress the paralysis if I fail a backflip or somehow fail a kick or something (I'm quite unfit; and also asthmatic - but not fat).

try conditioning yourself first, jump alot. Practice the basics and then move up. For example, if you want a 540, perfect your tornado kicks first before moving on to the next step. Busting yoru ass out there is part of the job if you want to get good moves. Btw Shelz, nice Axe2aerial

Hi there, im new too...
Im not THAT unfit, my main Problem is that i fear when i wanna try a flip, cuz i know i can't jump high enough, the fear isn't the largest prob, cuz when it gets a bit warmer, im gonna get the trampoline up in the garden, and train on it.
What I'd like to know is if theres a exercise to build up jump strength...
is just jumping with a jump rope good enough?
Cuz I'm mainly at the computer@home but always when i don't know how to make progress with my page i just go into the middle of my room and stretch, ive got some success with it, so i'd like to do it with the jumping in the same way...

and resp: stretch like hell, if you haven't done much sports like me, you'll need some month to be flexible enough to do all sorts of tricks, and i don't mean only the legs, stretch the hand joints, thats something i missed for a long time^^

Thanks, but I was wondering if there was a kind of protective layer that works? I was thinking of buying a kind of small rubber stable mat, or if there's some simpler alternative? It's a bit muddy over here at the moment which helps the landing but it means that I can't get enough force to jump high enough as it's really muddy and so it disperses some of the upthrust energy...I've been trying to do some of the kicks but I slip and screw up on the run... so I had to slow down and ended up having too few spins... then I tried jumping off of concrete so I could have some speed then I slipped on the landing... any ideas?

Well, at the moment grass is the safest median to trick on and so that's all I can use, and if you have any better ideas, please...? (No money for gym subscription and school gym = tiny + only allowed to use in lessons and PE isn't a GCSE subject of mine).

Yeah but...I just never have money (I'm spending it on exercise equipment and other stuff...some of which I'd not like to divulge) and in school I have a 2 hour session of exercise thingy per week but "Athletics" (basketball, football, random stuff and etc.) doesn't interest me as much as rugby which means I really don't have access to any protective flooring. And my gym has a sort of wooden floorboard thing. They're manufactured wood but not the quality you'd expect in a gym (it's a few decades old).

Man, you ain't got luck over there.
Here I got a gym with a few friends for free...
If you want to train tricking at home you should have at least 3mx3m free space...
But i dunno about the rubber mats, its good for gymnastics but if you spin on it it will spin with you...
But even if you only got carpeted floor, its much better than wood...

I would, but it isn't that simple... :eh: and also, I have a kind of.. 1X3m space but it's really close to a load of electrical items and above my head would be some lights... and it has walls or at least dangerous items on each side (I have to trick in the garden).

My birthday was two weeks ago...so Christmas here I come! Plus, a trampoline would just be to get over the fear that I don't have... I know that I can't do a backflip properly but I've landed on my head enough (it helps if you tense your neck) to not be scared of trying... I just need to get that exercise shizzle that I have the money to buy but isn't in stock. Soon as I have it I'll work on building body mass...
