Ok I've been through a few cameras. I had one that died past warranty that's been sitting in my bedroom for almost two years now.

Now, before I had tried to scour google for a fix, but nothing. Now I had went back and searched the same error. Sony C:31:23 cassette error. What people were recently recommending was banging and smacking it. Hitting the camera! Someone elegantly recommended "Giving it a few good smacks on the tape side."

I thought, "What the hell?", took the thing and smacked the fuck out of it four times against my knee.

lmao i remember thats how i fixed my old snes xd. i got angry at it once and threw it out my bedroom window and it landed on the grass outside and it worked again!

actually saying that though my camera has shown its first sign of weakness; its got the tilt screen LCD on the side, well when you rotate it all the way round so whoever you're filming can see themselves on the screen, well that bit doesnt work properly. Basically its supposed to flip the picture when you go past a certain point (so you're not looking at yourself upside down). So now people jst see themselves being upside down, which sucks! It was handy to have it like that when i was importing footage.

My camera's lifespan isn't going to be that long anymore, I have to smack it a couple of times when I use the playback function (to get rid of thick stripes that run through the screen that make it impossible to see anything) to watch my footage on it :-/

Ah well, I've had it for like 2 and a half years anyway :smile:

yeah the same thing happened to my old camera and afew smacks fixed it.
Then like a week later it started being gay again and my friends decieded when we were out to throw it (we were on a big grassy field) so I thought, well I`ll just not throw it that high and after about 10 mins it turned in2 seeing who could throw it the highest and by that point it was exploding and sumhow we kept putting the parts back together and re-throwing it.
and then sum idiot about a week later stole my bag with the broken camera in it, he musta been so proud of his find.
