basically, it's been bugging me for ages that some high level tricksters can not Raiz. I (once I had spent months learning the bastard move) now know that the technique is not hard to perform, just hard to learn. It's a kick where the momentum is generated through the upper body and the lifting leg, rather than the kicking one, which causes many tricksters some problems.
This should break the technique down from the very basics, and provide a step by step progression which is dead easy to follow. I only made one because I have not seen it explained in this way, and when I tell people, they get it almost straight away.
the trick - nail your hyper cheat 360. the rest is easy.

Thanks alot, i've had trouble with the raiz(and one huge bail onto my head), so this should reduce the uncertainty of surviving when i swing it thru. Thanks alot!
This video really simplified the move... i'll try it tomorrow

thx a lot for this tutorial
i have a big problem with this trick
Wow thats really, good I've wanted this move for ages!! can someone give some more detail on where you look?
p.s isint that hyper cheat 360, kinda just a tornado kick?

Look at your foot, and watch it until it hits the floor. this is a cheat method of geting your body to twist with the lifting leg.
It really works.

Thanks alot if I get this move finally (its my fave move) I will <3 you with all my <3!
P.s
Is this a one day thing or do you build up?
Kyukodo Gaz

It can easily be a one day thing. just follow the progressions.
edit: and please don't <3 me!
My raiz sucks, damnit. I gotta work it, thanks!

Nice tut...
I do it a bit differently - My intention is to get COMPLETELY inverted.
I have a pretty decent horizontal raiz, but I just FAIL at inverting it more...
Something about - arching back and pushing hips up .... I dunno.. X__X
Kyukodo Gaz
Mar-06-07, 11:47 AM
The inverted one is slightly different, but you have to get confident with the normal one first. It's to do with looking over your shoulder and arching loads. Just think gainer, becasue that is essentially what an inverted raiz is anyways. The tut wasn't really for that, and I can only invert properly about 1 in 3 tries anyway! It'll come eventually.
nice one I'm gonna try it out tomorrow hopefully after work. really nice simply tips. excellent!

Well.. Maybe the thing is that I learned my raizes going from the "weird laid back tornado" and arching my back, opening chest and swinging that first leg more to the side...
I can almost invert them to this point: /
But the my legs are mostly bent...
Well... So it's drilling drillingand drilling for me.. X__X
Another way to learn is just the same you do with aerials - do gumbys like a bitch and just practice jumping into them and eventually don't put your hands down..
Now my problem is... I was able to do GREAT gumbys once... Now they just scare the SHIT out of me (maybe because I almost snapped my elbow once doing them.. X__X)...
Yeah gumbies are scary at times...
A kyoudo isit possible if you could post a downloadable version or easier a video.google.co.uk version so i can put it onto my ipod  thanks for the tut again, I hope this will get me a raiz!

I learned like you too, I just started to notice a similarity in technique to the inverted raiz and my jstep gainer flash. They feel kinda the same, but kinda different. That's why I said it.
As for the quote above, they scare the shit outta me to! seriously, my body doesn't let me do em!
i won't upload it, but feel free to do so if you want to. i aint fussy.
I can do the really inverted one but cant do a normal one haha.

Why the fucks do you want the normal ones then?!
It's like saying : "I can do Gflashes but I can't do moonkicks..."

Mar-07-07, 08:11 AM
Actually I think moonkicks look way more cooler than gay flashes...
It's the "weird" leg motion it makes it look more fast and aesthetic
White Nazgul
Mar-07-07, 08:34 AM
yeah, not taking to account that most of the GAY looking gflashes are called moonkick.
Recently ANY unsucessful gainer flash is counted as a moon kick.. GAH..
If you want a normal raiz(non inverted)....what i do is do a low sweep or a compasso followed by a raiz.

Cheers! That's the first one I ever did! Landed about 3 on Monday. It will definitely improve with time. I really want a round kick out of to be honest, so I need an extra 90 degrees. Work in progress!

i learned my raiz in a similar way after watching jeff spridcos how2 on maslinc, and the thing that really made it for me was the windmill motion he uses and showed, that way you get your head right underneath and you get a nice floaty looking raiz, im working on swing throughs at the moment

The thing is I like REAL moonkicks (like Munks's or Teddy's) but what you see people calling a moonkick now is a disgrace....YUCK!
Tell me, is THIS a moon kick?:

Yeah this was a good tutorial Gaz I went and did some tonight thinking of my raiz the way you described, I always used Sess's method (Cheating into a gainer) but your way seemed to work well too, just a different way of getting your head around the move I guess.

Mar-11-07, 05:07 AM
To think about it like a gainer, you must have a gainer. I couldn't gainer when I started the raiz stuff, so I built it up from scratch, hence al the pre-req stuff. I'm just getting to the standard of a half decent cheat 900 too so that one is in the pipeline I think. the reqs for that are sooooooo easy. they just completely disassemble the technique.
Anywayz, glad it works guys!

yeah man no worries :good:
he's also got a pretty much failsafe way of doing raiz too, thats how i do mine now anyway, but ive got like four different ways of doing them now  i used your tech and it helped me learn lazy boi's!

That is a sexy still Ben, well nice!
Lazy bois, are exactly the same pre reqs, but you do not look at your left foot as you go over and stay upright. They look well nice in combo too. Underrated technique methinks.
i was trying these earlier, i need to film them, but i used your method and it felt a lot more inverted than usual :good: cheers man, i'll get some filmed for you later this week.

I'd be interested to see your pre reqs for building up to a cheat 9 Gaz, since you say you have found a way to make it so easy and disassemble the tech and stuff, when I learnt this move I found it terribly difficult, I pretty much just leart through trial and error.
Kyukodo Gaz
Mar-11-07, 05:46 PM
a cheat 9 is all about re-programming. If you take it in very simple steps, you can have the move in 30 minutes to an hour. If you owrk on it solely that is. Once you have programmed your legs to work on the pump, the kick just comes out. Plus, (tip originally from Andy) you cheat it really badly when you first start off, and then slowly work it out to a nice technique.

it is! You just have to be told how to do it! i went to a seminar with kim Do about 12 months ago, and he had me doing c900 doubles when i couldn't even c900!!! He took me through it step by step, going a little at a time, lift the leg here, push the leg down here etc etc etc. And all of a sudden, I understodd the technique and it worked! I've forgotten all the pre reqs he told me now  but at the time i was so pleased!
Anyway, we all noticed this alarming trend once we started getting techniques aftter months of practice. Sometimes you would fluke them and not understand them at all, they are the kind that you lose straight away. It pisses you off,but basically you forget to do a tiny integral part of the move and it just disappears. Some though, are earned, and you will never lose them. My c720 will be with me well into my 40's!!! I find it so easy because I understand how it works now. C900, once Dale (an awesome tricker on my team) broke it down for me, I did it in about 10 minutes.
Pre reqs are the way forward!!!
Yeah man.. I would love it if you do a cheat9 tutorial. I really need to expand on my kicks...

Dude, mad props on your video. I showed it to my friend who had a hard time trying raiz, because the way we teach it doesn't look as simple as this. GREAT job!

hahahaha also, another good tip to learn things quicker.
try different techs. Don't drill the same thing over and over if it clearly isn't working. Try doing something different with your body. Yeah, you might land on your ass because the tech you tried wasn't a good one for the move your learning, but if you scatter it around eventually you will hit something that works.
Shoot I feel like making a guide. haha

yes, try different techniques.
yesterday, i got a raiz! shitty one still but much better than the ones on my previous attempts.
i always thought that raiz is supposed to be sideways, i tried it like that and i failed. then i watched some tuts, in one tut there was said that it's supposed to be more like a backward motion. i tried it like that and failed again.
then dunno how i thought up it but i tried to go into it like some sort of an arc, like a j-step only not in the setup but through the move itself and it worked instantly. on my previous attempts i couldn't get even horizontal, now i'm even starting to invert it a little bit sometimes.
