My Universities gymnastics gym just installed a camera/projector system where they have a projector up on the wall. What it plays is a 25 second delay of what happens in the gym, the cameras are mounted on the wall and can be aimed ad zoomed in and out with a computer in the corner. Basically you can do a trick, look at it, and adjust technique on the fly based on what you see. Its fucking awesome.

Can anyone think of a good way for us trickers to ghetto rig a similar setup? i don't have any video software that does real time playback with a time delay like that

It can't take more than 25 seconds to rewind the tape on your camcorder and look at the footage. If you want a bigger image just hook it up to a TV or a projector.

This is a way better way to do watch yourself than jsut filming yourself and watching it back.

I think this would only be useful to a moderate sized class

That is freakin COOL. So you just go and do whatever and everytime you can just look over and see it again? Haha, even if you wanted to play it back on your actual camera that's nifty. You win. I've no idea how such things work though.

That is AWESOME

I WANT IT

Ideas, smart people? All I can think of is using a tv set in the gym (or on the field), and letting the footage run straight to the tv. The only problem there is the lack of delay...

wouldnt be possible to have it if u trick out side unless you wanna spend lots of time setting it up and disasembling it.

that's hella nice. a lot of the time i don't bother rewinding and watching myself, it's not a big deal just tossing combos and whatnot but when learning new ish or tweaking technique it's annoying as hell to me to walk back over the camera, rewind, and watch over

it's like how in grade school teachers used to give you say, a sheet with an article on the front and ?s about it on the back, and you always had to flip back and forth. not really a big deal but i HATED that compared to having the article and questions on separate paper.

I would enjoy this immensely. It means that I don't have to bother with the fucking camera, that rewinding gets on my nerves badly. Also, it would mean that we wouldn't have to stop filming sampler footage everytime we wanted to analyze something. This idea is packed full of win, cepopeye.

Its fairly common in more serious gymnastics from what I gather. I think its a great idea. Gymnasts definitely benefit from it so why can't we?

haha yeh had this set up once for trampolining, got a tad irritating, and i dunno if it would be too affordable for trickers like us...

probably is quite useful though... just REALLY expensive to have a set up like how you described.
