bottom line:
if you use a song that has been used before i'll think you're a poseur or wannabe.
if you use a song that's on the radio all the time and "popular" i'll think you're a clone.
if you use a song that's unique, original and sounds good, i'll think much better of you.

I would say though, that the problem is that people too often pick songs simply because "they like them." More often than not, it does not work. You have to pick something you like, and that works with the theme of the video.

I've seen people take videos as seen from America's Funniest Videos, and put screamo over it. Don't know what they were thinking.

That's not his point, "not being good" is only one reason why you shouldn't use a song. The two other major reasons are: 1. If the song was used in a good sampler, it is off-limits (Most of the Yellowcard songs have), and 2. if they are overused.

Yeah pretty much what TKD Tim said. Dont use it if it has been used before, and dont use it if its over played. Other than that, as long as it goes with your samp, pretty much anything is fine. Obviously, theres going to be someone who doesn't like it, but they can kiss the fattest part of my ass
