Because jumping is based on relative strength. For an Olympic level vert (like this one), you have to be as strong as possible, as fast as possible, and as reactive as possible at the smallest possible bodyweight.

Moreover, many sprinters are not very strong at all, but very fast on their respective sport.
WEights dont help sprints very much/or high jumping (besides the first 10m where strength is of great importance, then is all maxV and SE). Unfortunately if you lack in maxV(sprints) department you are fucked.
Or if you lack the eccentric strength in the high jump your are screwd too

1. I never said anything about weights.
2. I never said anything about squatting.
3. I never said anything about sprinting.
4. I never said anything excluding eccentric strength.

It's extremely obvious that maximal strength will not win a sprint and that it only helps determine the initial degree of acceleration from rest. You're wrong to state that using weights won't help much in high jumping. If used correctly, they will have a tremendous carry-over.

As well, you seem to have assumed that my use of strength means just concentric strength. It does not. In this context, strength also includes eccentric and isometric strength.

Don't try to correct things that I never said. If you want to add information, just make a new post or quote, using a coordinating word such as "also" or "as well" at the start of your text to extend what is said in the other.

Just wanted to clear up that being strong in the weight-room doesn't carryover well to other activities, esp. if other parameters aren't covered during training.

ha ha, I don't speak English that often, mostly typing/writing... After a few days in an English speaking enviorment I use to loosen up... I lived in the states for quite a while and just after a week or so I was able to fool people that I was a native... ha ha, Cago-accent... ha ha, now days my English is probably horrible in practice...
