Sorry about not following one of the rules of "you should not post this" - Saying you 'used to be able to do them piece of piss' but cant anymore.

But this has happened to me in my backflip. I'm posting here a video on how my backflip used to be.

http://www.parkourpt.com/misc/back-tuck.wmv

Now, I can't do it anymore, (didn't had the chance to film it yet, but it's really bad). I'm falling on my knees 6/7 feet way from where I started the move...

At the beggining I though it was due to my lack of backflip training in the last months, but after severel dedicated back-flip sessions, I noticed something was really bad... I started to notice that my back-flip started to get worse when I begun to learn the "flick flack" (I'm portuguese, don't know if it's written this way, but, it's a back spring.)

Really need your help guys. I used to do flash kicks, gainer's, x-out's... but now I can't do anything... except for the back spring...:dead:

I've re-read Juji tutorial (what got me in the first place to do the back-flip), several times, re-viewed several back-flips videos, and have trained a lot. but my back flip is really reluctant to appear.

One last hint: I know I'm throwing my back (and I'm not supposed to) but I can't really adjust it, I just freak in midd air...

What you need to do is retrace your steps...watch old videos of urself, then film ur new shit technique. Try to notice subtle differences in what ur doing. Then try to replicate your old good stuff. dont know how much help ive been but that really helped me when i lost my B-twist! Good luck...

hmmm well you have a really big dig. That is, after you set and dip/crouch down you go really far down to the ground then launch up.

I do the same, and i have a terrible back tuck with no height and i land way behind where i take off.

What i was going to do to counter this was not dig so low and try and keep my torso up as much as i can during digging.

My theory is because of the deep dig, when I start traveling upwards to jump, even though i only lean a little bit, this extra time/distance to travel turns it into a big, bad, arched and shitty back flip!

Also, if you dig and set the same way as you do for your flik flak (or back hand spring ), it could be confusing for your body trying to get back into the whole jumping UP and then tucking routine.

Try out a new setting/digging method and let me know ! :)

just film your self and search for mistakes
also in your back flip you barely tuck try to tuck more and untuck quickly

Mickey, yes, I've been doing that, the thing is that I know exactly what the problem is, but can't arrange it.

Dave, your right, that's exactly the problem. when I'm starting to go up (to jump) I imediatlly start to lean back... I don't know why (probably fear...)

biyak, allready done that, I'll try to post a back-flip video of last night training session.

Last night I went to train at the beach and at the end of the training, the backflip was starting to be cool. The thing is that, in order to jump UP, I mentally have to figure myself doing a gainer so that I only go 2 feet back...

has this happened to anyone? Am I doing wrong setting my brain the wrong way in order to arrange the backflip?

I dont think so mate, just keep doing whatever your doing if its working :)!

Oh and did you try not digging down so far? Any help?

I want to start working on my back tuck at some stage soon. Just wondering and see what works for you as it seems we have similar problems.

Good luck still man, keep at it
