Heya.

Today at the gym I was doing deep squats with a lot of weight on my shoulders.
It was pretty heavy since I aimed for 5-6 repetitions.

And the problem is/was, during my fifth rep I got this burning feeling in this area:

That feeling really stung, so, I finished that last rep and sat down on a nearby bench. A few seconds later I start noticing this dizziness sneaking upon me, and it got worse - a lot worse.
One minute after that I'm down on the floor feeling like I'll puke any sec, also, I felt that I was near on fainting, at one point I could barely open my eyes since I had no energy, "Fuck now I'll feint.." - I thought. Luckily I didn't.
And with all that I was sweating like, yea well I was sweating a whole lot, looked like I just took a shower..
Oh and I might add, I wasn't using any weightlifting belt at that time.

So yea, Wtf happened to me?
I've heard something that some shit that keeps your intestines in that area in place can burst a 'lil during such things, making a little bump on the stomach. But, no bump on me, and I've had that feeling once or twice before (long time ago), but not as much at this time, and certainly not the effects that followed.
Yea, sounds nasty eh? Well I'm not sure, I hope someone here has something to tell.
Thanks in advance.

***THREAD CLOSED***

See I was going to say that, but surely he's have already booked an appointment.
Sounds very serious though but if you havent seen a doctor, go see him before your leg explodes into a million pieces

Aside from a doctor, how do you breath during your lifts?

My leg explodes? Um, it was my stomach, but well whatever..
Anyways, at writing time I tried a few normal squats, leg-raises, handstands etc, and they all work fine, no pain. Guess it's more when I do the really heavy lifts.

But ofc, I know that seeing a doctor about this is good, but if someone had this or knows anything I'd like a reply.

Well, I don't really think about that during that exercise. But I think it's that I breathe in while going down and out while pushing up.

If your squatting heavy, Rippetoe recomends using the Valsalva maneuver. Taking a deep breath, closing the glottis making more pressure in the thoracic cavity, making you more stable.

Haha, you basically just described the feeling of doing heavy squats (other than the abdomen pain).

I used to get the same pain (or so it sounds). It feels alot like a hernia, like something is tearing, but luckily it never did. Mine went away on its own, but don't be as stupid as me, go to a doctor.

go to a doctor, but aside from that, how do you feel now?

I once did a heavy deadlift, and I felt a sharp pain in the inner part of my hip. I don't exactly know what happened, but I couldn't deadlift for awhile, and I just worked my way back up after a few weeks. No problems since. You probably lifted a bit too hard.

The fainting part sounds like a drop in blood pressure. A blackout that is. Anfeyd said it on the breathing part. And bloody well go see a doctor!
