hi. ive been strechting my front splits for a while now and im like 2 inches off the ground (left leg in front) but now when i try them and my kicks i get a bad pain below my left glute :dead: :dead: :dead: :agony: . should i rest and let it heal and not kick high, dynamic strech and strech front splits for a while? is there a stretch i can do to fix this? is it normal? thanks

yeh i got the same when i was first training frontsplits, you say you are really close to getting it with your left leg in front? and its the top of your left hamstring that hurts, so i bet u are pushing the stretch a bit further on that side in eagerness to get the full split. Just make sure yout legs are fully warmed up (maybe go for a jog and do some front leg lifts and hamstring stretches first) before training the splits, also dont rush into forcing yourself down as far as you can go, ease slowly into it and dont push the stretch too far too early. Hope this helps

ok that helps alot. thank you. and would this be considered ballistic streching?
should i wait to heal for like a couple days?

no, its just overstretching. Ballistic stretching is when you bounce to push the stretch further which can cause injury. As for resting, just do what feels right i tend to stretch every other day. If my hamstrings are feeling particularly tight on my 'rest' day il do some light dynamic stretching to loosen them up a bit.

This sounds like a job for static-active stretching! The way to do that for splits is to hang from a bar or a rafter or something and pull your legs up. Make it more active with ankle weights!
