Junk food tastes so good! How do I make myself not like it anymore? I wanna get ripped, and I know how to do it, I just can't seem to make myself stick to bodybuilding diet regimens. Order me a WAHHH-mberger and some french-CRYs...:dead:

Set yourself small realistic goals, then reward yourself when you accomplish them.
Say, one week without eating junk food. If you succeed, have your favourite junk meal (set a date and time for the junk meal, so it is part of your 'plan' - and not a spontaneous cheat). Then slowly increase the strictness of your goals.
This is just one approach. Try it and see how you go, if it doesn't work out then you may need a different approach.

If you really want a ripped body, you gotta really put yourself towards it. I had it inprinted in my mind that I had to lose weight to trick at all. I ended up losing 19 pounds in 3 weeks, and still losing. Theres an article somewhere Juji put in that talked about letting yourself cheat as a reward, which I partly agree with, just don't give yourself more reward than you deserve.
Another thing that I think most people can agree on is that fact that once you start eating healthier, you want to eat junk food less and less. Don't quote me here, but from what I've learned, junk food is craved by your body because of low sugar, replace that with fruit. Fruit has a different kind of sugar, but its much much better for you. And if you happen to want any food you really don't need, try drinking water, the body thinks its hungry when its actually thirsty for water.
I know how you feel though, I still eat junk food off and on and it is really hard to stay off it, but there are things you can do to stop it. "Out of sight out of mind" would be a good thing to go by here, don't buy any junk food and you won't have any to think about. Have a lunch with lots of junk in the line? Don't bring any money and pack your lunch. Keep the 6-8 meals going, supposedly it lowers your want of sugar (don't quote me again) and you won't want some of that crap. Good luck with it and keep telling yourself you look disgusting in the mirror until you can see muscle peeking through without flexing, that's usually a good sign.
Phew, I need to listen to my own post.
19 lbs in 3 weeks.... haha!!! hello water weight
Surround yourself constantly with things that will motivate you. Listen to motivational songs, look at motivational pictures/posters/documentaries, be around motivational people. When you're always reminded of the reasons why you're doing what you're doing, you'll be more likely to succeed.

Just say no...
Karlnold and Compleks nailed it. It's one or the other of them.
Due to the nature of junk food (specifically pizza and hamburger meals) they have an extremely high GI and will make your blood sugar levels shoot through the roof. After a certain amount of time, you'll have that sugar crash (Paltkoma in Swedish) and crave something sweet to remedy your predicament. Trust me, after a week off of junk food, you won't want it that badly anymore.
Eat clean food! Nobody can crave something if they haven't tried a week without it.

force yourself to eat nothing but strict healthy food for a good month. Then go back and see if you actually want fast food.
To me, a burger king/macdonalds looks like vomit.
After a few months on proper food, junkfood tastes like shit.
I had McDonald's for the first time in years a couple of weeks ago. I got constipated (McD's wasn't the only shit I ate), my mouth felt sour and foul, I had a really icky slimy substance down my throat... It was just disgusting.

Axeman, your problem may be that you haven't learned how to cook good-tasting healthy food. Most people, when they start out, cook healthy food that has a boring, bland taste. For variety, you could try adding a variety of spices to your meat, using "exotic" veggies and fruits in your meals (eggplant, pomegrante (sp?), etc.), or drinking non-calorie flavored drinks if you can't stand water at every meal yet. The key is to get good at creating good healthy food; if you can make tasty meals, you won't crave shitty food anymore.

Well is your goal to be ripped and muscular, or is your goal to be super-duper-healthy?
They aren't mutually exclusive but sometimes people don't seem to be able to see the benefit of "junk foods." As though you get a special award for eating extremely healthy all the time... maybe from other super-duper "healthy" people, but find someone you know that is actually ripped and ask him if he eats extremely healthy all the time?
Subway, soul food, and sometimes McDonalds are actually staples in my diet, because (a) I am trying to gain weight, and (b) they are cheap and affordable (especially the subs because i can get them for free). If I have a healthier option, I will of course choose that, but with financial and time constraints.... "junk food" serves it's purpose.
And I am not fat, or sickly.
But like I said, you can have both, it just requires a lot more effort which you apparently seem to be lacking in that area already haha

Subway is fine, McDonalds is just too greasy for me. Jan summed it up quite nicely with the feeling of being dirty after having eaten there. Same goes for most junk food places.
Mind you, one can cut back on other areas financially to make up for slightly more expensive food. It's all in the priorities.

Yes by cutting out all of the truly shitty foods, like potato chips, and tubs of ice cream... i can afford lots of cheap wheat pasta and more beef.
However, 2 McDonals quarter pounders with cheese comes to about 1060 calories. Eaten with a cup of whole milk (152 calories), that is 1/3 of my daily intake right there. Not to mention that the entire meal, milk included, comes to about 62 grams of protein.
Convenient? Effective? Absolutely.

Insuline spike? Most definitely. Though not necessarily so. The sugar in the bun is still something I can't really stand.

Typically I will eat stuff like that after a workout specifically because it is very high calorie, and will spike my insulin.
People nowadays seem to think that spiking insulin is such a terrible thing, forgetting that it is the very method through which your body pushes nutrients into muscles that need to be repaired and to grow

I love you! Well not really but your argument for eating junk food is very sound since eating it after a workout could be very beneficial specifically due to the high GI number.
My point was that people should be weary of GI if they don't work out as much. If it looks like an EKG during the day your insuline sensitivity will go to shits and that will inevitably take you spiraling downwards in terms of fat gains.
GI is no big deal if you work out regularly. I'm heading back into the sauna now, 2nd session and the sweat is pouring!

It's pretty amazing that a lot of people eat this stuff twice a day for years.
To the poster: When you first start transitioning to healthy food, you will have cravings for fast food. However after a while of clean eating, when someone mentions "mcdonalds" it's more disgusting than alluring.

Yeah your body will get used to a new variety of taste through eating healthy foods. Long enough on them and junk food just doesn't appeal to you much. That doesn't mean it won't agian if you got back into habit but yeah it takes work on both sides. You will adapt.

So I think a good question can be, how can you tell / what are the signs of some food having high GI? I workout regularly, but I wouldn't mind help fending off the onslaught of junk cravings as well.

To eliminate my cravings for candy and soda, I ate fruits whenever I had a craving.
And to conquer my craving for greasy foods, I would eat bacon and pan-fried beef.

High GI is something you have to check up in a book or on the net. General consensus is that the rougher type of grains, the lower the GI.
Also, one may think that eating junk food regularly is fine but what doesn't show on the outside is definitely working on the inside. After I quit that shit I felt completely and utterly healthy. I have more energy, I never have any headaches anymore and other beneficial effects are there.
haha, I eat junkfood all the time, well, not really all the time, like once or twice a week, and I have plenty of energy... maybe too much, I find it hard to sleep, even with a hardcore workout session, but I have hardly any headaches (I had one last week, but I think that was stress related)
Once or twice a week is one thing. 4-5 times a week is another which was my consensus before I did a complete change.

There's probably not any trick to it, just a combination of learning to appreciate non-junk food (don't hate vegetables and water, many kids are like this...), gorging on it so that you are not hungry (for junk food), hating the junk food and maintaining a willpower not to eat it.
Also during and directly after exercise I think hunger is mitigated, usually by thirst or something. Of course, I feel personally like in the long term exercise enhances hunger, but more of a ravenous 'I want meat and broccoli' sort of way than a craving 'I want me some pasties' sort of way.
